quote:lolwut? Spearfishing is awesome off of NorCal. They shore dive in Oregon and Washington as well. Tons of allowed species, including the almighty halibut, and plenty of abalone and urchins too. You can do it all without a boat.
spearfishing

I didn't realize those activities are non existent in the NW. OR....you just assume that.
As far as outdoor activities go the NW is as well rounded as it gets.
IMO FWIW IDGAF

And if you count scuba diving or spearfishing they move back down the list.
NW? SOme awesome scuba diving and spearfishing. In fact, the northern Pacific is one of the best places to dive. We used to pull up to 5 king crab (legal limit) a trip.

My brother became certified in AK.
Two of the clearest lakes in the country to dive are in Oregon. Crater and Clear.
My friend spearfishes for Salmon.
I've seen people diving in some of the rivers too. But yeah, no diving or spear fishing around these parts....

Really depends on what you like.
Not reading all pages. But I like the mountains best. I have more energy in the cooler less oxygen air. So I would pick any of the Rocky Mountain states.

Same way. The heat and flat land suck the life out of me. I love a cool mountain area, just feels like home.

If forsaking fishing then I'm going Kansas,... big bucks, upland, turkey, antelope, mule deer...
Including fishing.... I'll go LA or TX...

We have mountains in AZ. We have great bass fishing. We have a blue ribbon elk hunting state. Mulies, antelope, javelina

AZ is great for residents, not so much for anyone trying to draw an out of state tag... I've bought licenses for 8 years and still haven't pulled an elk tag...

Kansas nice deer plenty of upland game

It's got to be Texas. Top 3 in bass fishing in the country, top 10 in whitetail. Y'all are not giving Texas enough credit on saltwater fishing. Not to mention the diversity of big game, Hogs, Javalina, whitetail, mule deer, antelope, turkey. Good waterfowl hunting, gator hunting, and any exotic your can think of. There's also all of the free ranging exotics in Texas like black buck, Axis and Nilgai to name a few. Upland bird hunting is good also with some of the best dove hunting in the county.

I guess it depends on personal taste. Not sure many would pick Texas over anywhere in the NW.
