I'd vote Colorado.

I like Colorado as well, but can you consider a landlocked state for this?

Perhaps Washington would be in consideration?

If I just take into account what my real passion is which is waterfowl hunting. I would say the golden triangle in Missouri.

I didn't realize that landlocked states were not included in the lower 48. In that case, I choose Puerto Rico

For the upland hunter, Kansas is hard to to beat with decent wild numbers of quail and pheasant (no grouse or woodcock but I could manage) Turkey, whitetail and mule deer, limited elk, antelope, good numbers of ducks. I don't know how the fishing is...

that is why I said California

That's fine, I just took you naming Cali as you insinuating that we had to pick a state, which isn't really a fair comparison. Are you saying, pick one state in the US and you can only hunt/fish within the borders of that state? Or are you saying pick a location with the closest proximity to the outdoor activities you want to pursue?

If it's one state, TX, CA, Montana, have to be high up the list. If it is location, I would think the gulf coast could have a place high up there.

let's go with state since everyone else seems to be going that way

why do you always have to be so damn difficult?
