What’s best hunting app to use to mark Stands. Routes, see wind.

What is easiest to use and not constantly getting hit with updates.

I’ll hang up and listen

Huntstand is free and property lookup on a computer is free. It has also been more accurate on property boundaries in my experience.

OnX
HuntStand
MotionX-GPS
Map Plus
Gaia
Avenza
BaseMap
GPS Tracks

Wow people really use "hunting apps". What could they possibly do for you? I seen someone say "mark stands". Is that an issue that you cant find them after you put em up that you need an app?

It could be if you were navigating to it in an area with no road or trail before daylight.

It might also be handy if I were going to send you to a stand without having to take you.

If you wanted to measure the distance from one to another you'd need some way to do it right?

So, goggle maps or maps app. ok that's been around for 10 plus years now. I can't understand why a entire extra app would accomplish in the hunting world. There is a strong chance deer have zero clue about an app and if they did probably wouldn't follow what it says. Jesus people, the hunting industry is killing your wallets, we just keep losing!

I would wholeheartedly agree with your assumption here.

Hunting in national forest earlier this year where we were hiking a few miles back through some nasty stuff. There were several times that it came in really handy. Especially pre-dawn walk in and once when I got completely turned around walking out after dark. Basically no trail to speak of unless you happen to stumble across it in the daylight.

It has also came in really handy to find the nearest trail after recovering deer in thick stuff.

That's actually a really good point and I never looked at it from that angle.

Say you want to measure the acreage of a food plot before buying inputs. Or laying one out and wanted to know the distance from a stand or known point to put in a plot.

Say you are tracking a deer and want to know how the general direction of travel, or have to leave and want to mark last blood, or how to get back to your bike once you locate one. Or if blood trail fails and you have to grid search or bullseye for one.

Say you are a scouting a new property or an area you haven't hunted before, topo maps and satellite can feed you lots of info.

Just because you can't imagine how to benefit from the information available doesn't mean its not useful.

Heck anymore I measure distance with one a lot of times and don't carry a rangefinder.

Appreciate it. I know the majority of our stands face NW.
