Fwiw, I shoot a 20gauge Winchester 101 and absolutely love it. Thing can go through hell and back. I clean it once per split or if it gets super wet or muddy after a hunt, but otherwise don't do much to it. Never jams (obviously), easy to clean and purrdy to look at. It was my grandfather's and I'm not sure if they still make it in a 20gauge.

I shoot boss 3 inch 4s or 5s with it and they do the work.

A buddy of mine bought a SBE II at the same time I got my A400. It was good to compare because I had been looking at SBE IIs before deciding on the Beretta. Whether it was shooting clays, quail, or ducks, his gun has had issues cycling since day 1. Mine hasn’t skipped a beat. I’m not saying Benelli is a bad brand or that all their guns are like his, but it’s concerning for how expensive that gun was

I really do. They hit like lead. Zero cripples this year so far - and I don't think my aim has gotten any better. Don't think I'll be buying anything else again.

I recommend giving them a call before placing the order. Super friendly, super helpful and I'd suggest asking for their advice. They'll set you up well. Wish more businesses operated like they do.

Solid advice, I'd be looking for a good fitting 20Gauge and spend the rest buying Boss Shotshells and shooting lessons and practice.

Nope

ETA: I have no issues at all with Beretta as I have an O/U that is by far my favorite shotgun.

Also have a Browning gold hunter. Actually haven't had it out of the safe in probably 10 years or more.
In it's day it was a beast but heavy with much more recoil than the Benelli's

One more edit:
I used the shim kit in both of those guns. Took all of about 10 minutes to get them right.

Old 870's are the best there ever was. Find a pawn shop/gun store with used ones and get an old one that is a super magnum. But for elite baw status get a Benelli in camo pattern or a Browning humpback. In all honesty, as long as it shoots and is reliable, you'll kill ducks with it.

I have a SBE2 and I bought the SBE3 this year. I prefer my 2 over my 3. My 2 has been through hell, the paint is peeling off of it and the modified choke is rusted into the barrel and it shoots flawlessly. The 3 never malfunctions but benelli definitely changed something up because I can’t hit shite with it. I’ve shimmed it, put a bigger front sight and bought rob roberts chokes for it and that made it a little better but it doesn’t shoot the same as the older ones.
I should’ve bought another SBE2 this year.

All you will get here is “favorite duck hunting gun”

I prefer the Franchi Affinity. It’s inertia, well made, shoulders well, and is less than $1000.

I “upgraded” from an 11-87 (an a 870 / 1100 before that).

Franchi is definitely overlooked, they are probably the best for the price no doubt. Beretta owns them.

Yup, and no lie, my warranty book and replacement parts are direct from Benelli. I will not say it is exactly the same as the benelli, but the $1000 in savings far offsets the few extra bells and whistles for me.

Get a Beretta A300 outlander. Under a $1000, reliable, gas operated and will last a lifetime at your current rate.

I have an old Benelli Nova Pump. Best damn shotgun I ever owned. Can't kill it.
