i really appreciate all the feedback....i was told today that dodge's ran CONSIDERABLY cheaper than chevy, gmc, or ford trucks do....any truth to that?

Not sure ...i heard the Ford's were pricey, and I would never own a Dodge.
The GMC should be around $35k

Looking at the new GMC Sierra Z-71. have a 02 i bought new and never had trouble with it. Price was good too.

They are great trucks and are very reliable. The truth is that most 1/2 ton trucks now are more capable than Most diesels 20 years ago. It mainly comes down to looks and price nowadays.

That’s more power than the old 5.4-liter V-8, but it doesn’t carry as high a tow rating. In the regular cab, it can pull up to 10,000 pounds instead of a maximum 11,300 pounds.

I was talking about the 5.0, which yes tows less than the chevy. Your a Ford man to each his own. Like it was said earlier, Chevy is long over due for a over haul of not only the body style but there truck motors. Especially with Ford putting out new motors like these. The Chevys have enough performance for me, I am after dependability. Haven't found anything better than the Chevy.

I have been a Dodge guy for about 15 years now but just bought a new Ford last night. I test drove both and can't see how you can even compare the 2. That is hard for me to say being such a loyal Dodge guy but now that I am older and actually care about ride quality and room inside the truck it was a no brainer for me.
My dad has always had Ford and never had any issues with his trucks but I have never had any issues with my Dodges either. Just get what suits you because I think all 3 make good trucks overall.

Here is the one I bought for a little over 30k:

I got my ford for much cheaper than my dad got his sierra, and they are almost identically equipped.

You must've bought a 2500 or 3500 truck...The new 1500 Dodges have best in class ride quality thanks to the coil over rear suspension. Though I guess all of that is subjective to the guy behind the wheel...

And to the guy considering the 5.9 Ram, go for it...maybe try to talk him down a couple grand just for the sake of seeing what you can get away with...but 51k on a 5.9 is nothing...and it seems like a decent price compared to other diesel trucks with similar mileage. The 5.9 is a great motor.

I've noticed that people buying trucks these days seems to care a whole lot more about ride quality, interior fanciness, etc. They also don't seem to have a problem paying for all that extra stuff. I'm from the old school and I like my truck to ride like a truck.

I want rubber floors, crank windows, a manual transmission, a badass V-8 or diesel, vinyl seats, stiff arse suspension, and 4x4. No such thing though

frick that. I've had crank windows, PITA to roll down the passenger side even in a small truck, I would hate it in a full size. Same with the vinyl seats, I've had it, I hate the feel, much rather cloth or leather. And since I drive my truck on the road more, I'd rather it ride somewhat smoothly. Just me though. I will say there is something nostalgic about driving in an old truck with all that though. I miss my ranger.

All I'm lacking as the manual transmission and crank windows. I got pretty close. It's also a 1994 though

I'd probably hate the manual city driving, but for riding around back home and through the fields it was the tits

Everybody swears I'm an idiot for wanting one, but damnit I like em and if it was up to me I would never own a vehicle with an automatic.

I had the choice with my new truck, it was this F150 regular cab (v6/power windows/automatic) or a Tacoma extended cab (crank windows/manual/4cyl). At the time I wanted the Tacoma, my dad talked me into the F150. I'm glad he did now. The Ford was about $1000 cheaper too. Toyota sure is proud of their trucks.

The 5.9 sounds like a damn fine truck
Is it 4x4? Sorry, I can't remember now that I'm posting
And yeah trucks have taken a turn for the more cushy side of things but my new ford can pull more than I need, runs like a scalded dog, and keep my arse cold with the AC seats at the same time. Why not?

I like the toyota interior options, but I want a 3/4 ton with a v8 and those options. I think dodge still makes such a thing, but I really don't want a dodge. I'm sure by the time I finish school they won't even have them anymore and I will be

I guess I'll just keep buying old trucks and working on them.
