DzNtz,
Hurry up and buy your suppressor!! You're gonna enjoy it!
I bout a Silencerco Spectre. The key for me was what brand my local dealer ( Michael's Men's Store) carried (Silencerco) and what calibers I might use w/ the suppressor. Suppressors are rated to be used w/ particular guns (w/stand the pressure generated by the round). I liked the Sparrow by Silencerco; compared to the Spectre, the Sparrow was smaller, lighter and easier to clean. BUT, the Sparrow is rated only for 22LR, whereas the Spectre is rated for 22LR, 17 HMR, 17 Mach2 and others. I wanted a suppressor that could also be used w/ the 17 M2 and 17 HMR. I run my suppressor on a Ruger 10/22 w/ a custom Federson barrel, Hogue overmolded stock and Burris 4-14X scope.

Ruger 22/45 Lite w/ Burris 2-7X handgun scope, green flash light and pressure switch.

Talk to me about your setup. How much would that run to get that setup complete? Where could I pick one up like that? TIA

Does it really take upwards of a year to get the license/stamp for the suppressor? Can I request more than one stamp just in case I want a future suppressor?

I don't know what the current wait times are, you can watch nfatracker.com and it should give you a pretty accurate guess.

You will get a stamp for items you have already paid for. So you can't buy extra stamps for future purchases. You have to buy the item and get the serial number to send in the forms

Hard to say as far as actual cost, I got really good deals on all my parts minus the can from being patient online shopping. I started with the cheapest bare bones 10/22 I could find. Upgraded the hammer and sear with the Power Custom upgrade. Volquartsen bolt release and buffer. These upgrades alone dramatically improve upon any 10/22 and I highly recommend them. Once I knew I would be getting a suppressor I got the threaded barrel from Tactical Solutions and paired it with a Hogue overmolded stock. Initially it was suppressed with a Sparrow, which is a nice can, but it has significant first round pop (easily its biggest downfall). Where it really shines is the ease of cleaning it, which is a big plus for a rimfire can. I’m a big Dead Air fan and got a Mask once they became available. It is also easy to clean, but is noticeably quieter than my Sparrow and has little to no first round pop.

ETA: Leupold VX-1 and Game Reaper mount for optics

Ruger SR-22

Integrally suppressed, it’s a blast to shoot. These folks will take care of all the paperwork for you too. Well, help you with it.

That is incorrect in regard to to sparrow only being rated for .22. Maybe if you have a very early model but the current ones are rated for multiple calibers. The sparrow and the spectre are both rated for the same calibers but the sparrow is over a full decible quieter than the spectre for .22 long rifle according to silencercos published ratings.

That’s too much money for a worse version of a 10/22. I had one for awhile, the kit to turn it into a tacticool gun doesn’t add anything but weight and less accuracy for how it attaches to the barrel shroud. Just get a regular 10/22 and stick something like a hogue stock and a threaded bull barrel.

Looks like you're right, Woodguy. The specs for the Sparrow have changed so that it and the Spectre are now both compatible w/ multiple calibers; at the time I bought mine, they weren't. Regardless, I think it's still a good point to know whether you want a suppressor that's compatible w/ multiple calibers or not.

At 4.4 lbs their version weighs less than both the 10/22 and a stock SR-22. They also attach their own barrel with the oversleeve so I’m not sure how you know it’s less accurate.

I have a PWS T3 Summit (Ruger 10/22 converted to a toggle (bolt) action) with an Element 2. Pretty damn quiet setup.

Because it’s still using the same Nordic kit and the barrel shroud is still attached to that crappy kit the same way. There is a 10/22 sitting inside that, just get that to begin with and modify it to be much lighter for cheaper because you won’t have a 10/22 sitting inside a block of aluminum.
