I need some stubby ratchet wrenches but its a gift so don't want to ask for some that are too expensive.
I know neither make great power tools but I already have power tools by both so not getting something else.

any of the store brands will be decent quality. Craftsman, Rigid, Kobalt, etc.

The Gear Wrench ones are fantastic.
Sometimes you can catch the whole set on sale at NAPA for right under $100.

Kobalt....not saying it’s the best tools..but if anything ever happens to them...just walk in the store and return them at anytime. That’s a nice luxury, especially as a gift from a buddy. My 2 cents

They’re all good (enough). It’s the lifetime warranty you’re looking for. Personally, I buy Cobalt because I live and work close to a Lowe’s.
The MatCo truck comes to the shop once a week. I buy from him in an emergency only or for specialty tools. Warranty is lifetime but the truck only carries one or two of each item, so it takes a week or two to get replacements; whereas, I can walk into Lowe’s and trade in a broken wrench/ratchet/socket instantly.
ETA: Ford truck bed bolts eat up some T-50’s

X2 on the GearWrench.
I've never used high end stuff like Matco or Snap-On, but my GearWrench stuff is much nicer than my Kobalt or Dewalt ratchets.

Proto and snap on for big ticket items and westward for wrenches open and ratcheting. We have put these all though hell out here and they have held up well vs the top two

Gearwrench over Craftsman? The Gearwrench are a lot cheaper.

I dont use them a lot but I already have some of each so not adding a third battery I have to buy.

If you are buying stubby wrenches I'm sure it's not for tearing down a D8 and prolly less than 3/4. Buy lifetime from the closet store to your toolbox.
I have a lifetime Pittsburgh 1/4" drive ratchet and socket set from Harbor freight still going strong. The ratchet has actually outlived two Carlyle and one Snap On lifetime warranty. They get used everyday all day.

Craftsmen and Ryobi are junk. Dewalt tools are good but batteries are suspect, but pass for Weekend warrior stuff.
Milwaukee is the best hands down for power and reliability. Snap on top line stuff is good but you could by two MW for the price of the moving truck.

Will vouch for kobalt 40v all day every day. I have pole saw, chain saw, blower, weedeater. shite is great

The new Ryobi One+ tools are much better than Craftsman. And I own a lot of Milwaukee products, but they're not "hands down the best." Earlier today I was drilling into concrete and a Dewalt will get it done way faster than the Gen3 Fuel. Depends on the job for which is better.

I have a bunch of the Ryobi One + tools. I’m not building anything complicated, but I haven’t had any issues and everything is plenty powerful.
