Can’t speak for the A400 but I have two Extrema 2’s that have taken everything I’ve thrown at them and made happy plates out of everything I have fed them. No hiccups no issue’s just straight eat. It’s a Beretta and in my experience they make top notch equipment.

I have one, never could get comfortable with it. Went back to shooting my sbe. Just sits in my safe now, or loan to friends that need a gun.

Checking in. Mine is 26" though. Same color. Got it at Simmons back in Sept during no tax weekend. It has been my dream gun even though I have a Super Vinci and a SBE 2 in the safe. It's just something about Berettas.

Awesome gun. I put an aftermarket duck choke in it. Cycles everything I have put through it so far. If you are a Beretta guy you will love it. Congrats on a wise decision.

This my 2nd duck season hunting with it..Shells were scarce after purchasing..So I been using BOSS 3" #5's. No cycling issues so far..I am a lefty. So it is the 1st left handed gun I have owned....Moving from an A300..Very pleased..My a400 is mossy oak bottomlands.

Absolutely. I honestly don't even look at it much once I got the Super Vinci. The SV is god awful hideous but the damn thing is like a tank and you can abuse it like a red headed step-child and all it does it shoot. However, my first real auto was a 390 and always knew I would come back to Beretta. Also, everyone in my hunting group shoots an A400 Plus so I was like the odd man out until now.

I have one. Only issue I have is cycling certain low brass dove loads.

Best duck killing machine available. Order a Briley extended light modified choke tube and shoot some #3 steel and ducks will die.

It’s the fastest auto shotgun there is to my knowledge, but it’s too fast.

I have the SBE3 and I like it better due to being a bit more forgiving on cleaning.

It’s an awesome gun that should treat you right if you treat it well.

I know a dove hunt outfit in South America that only buys beretta autos because they drastically outlive everything else they've tried.

Great guns and extremely smooth shooting. Obviously heavier than the Benelli's of the world, but extremely well built guns. I have shot the A400 for the last 5 years, and I can't go back to the Benelli or Browning for some reason. Just doesn't feel right in my hand.

I shoot 3" #2 in mine, and I've never had issues. My uncle shoots 3 1/2" #2, and he sent his back to Beretta for repairs a couple time in the last 5 yrs. He has since switched to the xtreme plus with no issues.

I've only replaced the stock butt pad a couple of times, because something in the rice fields eats them up over time.

Great gun choice and the Max 5 looks outstanding, although I'm partial to the timber pattern.

Just picked it up from a pawn shop I use for transfers...owner says I have another for cheap if youre interested.

It was an 391 xtreme but I couldnt help myself for the price and bought it too.

I have a 391 which is the predecessor to the A400 and love it. Smooth shooting and fairly light weight

Shoot an A400 extreme unico. Best damn gun I’ve ever owned. Jammed never. Killed a lot of ducks and a few geese when I’ve had opportunities.

My primary duck gun is a 391, mybson bought an a400 a cpl yrs ago and i couldn't resist so i gotbone last yr. The 391 is a little lighter and points faster. A400 is really good and cycles faster than anything else. If you want to go thru 3 shells quick quick its the one ;) I also hear you can ghost load a 4th shell.... oversize controls and hollowed out feed are nice too

the 870 has killed more ducks than any of the guns listed lol. But I almost got one and got a SBE3 which I like, once I got used to it shooting high. Love my newer age browning a5 as well. Beretta will probably be the next. But I didn't like having all that rubber which is why I didnt get it, although it shouldered great.

I go between my sbe2 and sbe3 and I have never shot an ethos but from looking at them and word of mouth it almost seems like the SBE3 is more ethos than super black eagle. The 2 feels so good in the hands, as does the 3, and the 2 didnt shoot high like my 3 but whatever is comfortable and you like, you should get. Theyre all gonna be performing well in that price range. Its like Ford, Ram, GMC, all preference. I've noticed on the benellis and the berettas ive shot you have to hand tighten the chokes after a few shots because they come loose but its a habit now. (after market and oem) but the browning doesnt do that.

ETA: @OntarioTiger, you can ghost load just about every gun mentioned in this thread.
