Saw a big ole Eagle flying low over LA1 today right before the Sand Bar. He was headed over the lake with something in his beak. I've been living here for 15+ years and have never seen a Bald Eagle on FR. I've had them fly over my home but they were high altitude and level flight. This one looked like he's taken up residence. Is he a new arrival or have there been Eagles in the lake for a while?

Saw one fly over my 'hood in Slidell the other day. Been here over 10 years and it is the first I've seen here.

Maybe we saw the same one. This was a big bird- beautiful full plumage. I'd live to think they're getting so common they're starting to show up here. What a great conservation success story.

They are back and sometimes seen in 2-3's. Time to open the season on them.

I see tons down here. Probably once every other month I see them between my house, hunting and my office.
Last time I was fishing there was 2 screeching and circling. It was pretty awesome.

First thing I thought when I saw this one was "damn, he's low enough to shoot"!

I would never...

If one of these things in the first thing in your head after seeing some wild animal, you're a coonass:

Wonder what that taste like
It's low enough to shoot
Kinda looks like a grosbek
Gonna take a long time to get that tender
You'd need a anti aircraft gun to kill that thing

I used to see one on top of a utility pole of of Airline Hwy in Gramercy 8 years ago on my way to Marathon Refinery.

Now I see one off of Airline close to the Valero Refinery.

Around this time last year I saw two of them on 308 right around Valentine. They were about 50 feet off the road in a freshly cut cane field.

One of the coolest experiences of my life.

Fishing on Toledo, one was perched in a tree. Downloaded eagle call on my phone and played it, the eagle circled my boat for about 5 minutes calling back at the phone and looking around. God I wish I could post the video. So much 'merica in one video we slammed the bass too top 10 expirence on the water ever for me

Yeah a few years ago we had to dodge him in a helicopter.

I saw him from about 10 feet away.

They are very plentiful around Lake Verret. Last few trips we saw no less than 3-4 each trip and often 2-3 at one time.

Been seeing them (2) regularly around pecan island for about a year. One particular has been eating dead fish along Chenal for the last couple weeks.

There are many that winter throughout Louisiana. Pretty much any large body of water will have a pair. They nest during the winter. A few stay through the year but most head north to summer on Canada Terrebonne parish is the largest wintering population in Louisiana
