My neighbor said he came outside a couple of weeks ago and a bald eagle was sitting on the post of my dock. He said it left before he could get a photo.

For those kkeping track, I also saw a swallow tailed kite yesterday afternoon on 190 over the basin, east of Krotz Springs...

roger has some badass pictures of eagles from Alaska. Maybe he'll pop in and make us all jealous with his BA pictures.

I remember seeing over a 100 a day when in AK. It's a sight for sure.

There have been a few swallow tailed kites hanging around my neighborhood for the last 3 or 4 years.

I dated a girl that was from northwest BC, big salmon fishing town. When I went to meet her parents, we had to do some fishing. Eagles were like crows up there. I was astonished at how many were hanging out in the trees around us.

Are Blad Eagles a rare sighting around here?

You can't see from the pic, but this is downtown Baton Rouge. I'm not talking near downtown. Exxon in the background, etc. I've seen them all over the state (there's a pair that nests at the I-10/I-310 split), but this is just a weird place to see one.

There's nesting pairs on Cypress Lake and Cross Lake in NW LA that I know where the nests are and see the birds all the time. Hard not to stop and stare. Love watching them fish or slam coots.

About 3,000 of them gather along a stretch of the Chilkat River, near Haines every fall. A warm spring keeps a small section of the river ice free and candlefish (eulachon)are prevalent. It's to the point of being silly to see that many in one area. LINK

It's not far from the area that Gold Rush reality show was filmed.

There was a pair in the Cypress area before I left. Friend lived on Black Bayou, used to watch them from his pier.

It's ridiculous... It would be fun I suppose without the damned tourists.
