Do you guys honestly believe this? It’s 5 in every other state, so no one fishes for trout anywhere but Louisiana?
Exactly. The bays of Texas aren’t devoid of trout fisherman because the limit is five. Quite the opposite actually

I fish by myself more times than not on unfortunately. I am not driving 2 plus hours round trip the catch 5 trout which can be done very quickly when the bite is on. If I'm just going to do catch and release I will go and fish bass 5 minutes from my house on the rivers.

Add five redfish to that and you now have 5 trout and 5 reds. Enough to feed you for several meals

Add to that another adult and 2 kids and it's not really. Like I said for me to trailer my boat 2 plus hours as well as all the other cost that come with fishing for one hour of fishing just isn't worth it. I will just figure out how to catch these damn sacalait and bass fish around the house.
5 fish limit is a deal breaker

Yea 5 fish is a deal breaker for me too. No big deal to me because I dont speck fish often to begin with since catching 622584 11" trout is not appealing.

How often do you fish by yourself? I almost never fish by myself, I'll wade fish or kayak fish occasionally but that's just for a short trip.
If you fish with kids or fish with someone else, we are talking 20 fish. That's 40 filets.
20 slot red fish filets and 20 16-20 inch trout filets is a lot of meat.
I understand that it may change the way a couple of guys fish, but we aren't talking about a life time change here. We are talking 1-2 years most likely.
Frankly, our wildlife departments should be doing this probably at least every 2 years but really yearly is best. They should come out with a new limit every late winter early spring. 15, 20, 25, 10, etc.
You shouldn't go 25, 25, 25, 25, 25, 25, 25, 25....5. That's a shitty job.

Lol, the only way they will raise the limit back is if license sales fall on it face. If they put it to 5 it will stay 5 on less drastic drop in participation happens.

I’m okay with a five fish limit.
