It'll be interesting for sure. Somebody's gonna get drawn and quartered for this.
It's definitely a busy place around there these days...

All the big wigs are being pretty hush hush about what's going on under the ground out there.
like stated hopefully the media keeps digging

They probably don't know a whole hell of a lot themselves.
I kinda like the idea of pumping it up with concrete. Would be hard to do though because of the pressure in the well.

Please be advised that parish officials have learned that Texas Brine Company, LLC has called for a press conference at the Clarion Hotel in Gonzales, LA at 1:00 p.m. The Clarion is located at 1500 W Highway 30, Gonzales (where Mike Anderson’s restaurant is located).

I am a drilling fluid specialist (aka mud engineer) if someone can get me the dimensions of the cavern I can tell you exactly how much fluid/mud would be needed to fill cavern. It looks like the best way to do this is drill a vent hole and then a fill hole as you fill cavern then vent to a vessel. Any idea how far the Miss River is from here? This would be my solution if the river is w/ in 20 miles. Run 2 lines from river to site. Bring a tanker up river from Dilling fluid facilities in Venice w/ mud/fluid. A large tanker full would more than likely carry enough to do job. Then have another tanker to take on the vented material in an enclosed enivironment. Running 2 temporary pipelines above ground 20 miles would take 2-3 days at most depending on terrain. Bring in a drilling rig w/ in a mile of site and directionaly drill into bottom of cavern and begin injecting heavy mud (depending on pressures) and let the stuff vent out. After it stabalizes pump some cement to seal off hole made in cavern for injection. I know it is more complicated than this but it is an idea.

I think it's about 2500'x300'.
Not really close to the river.

They would likely flare the well as they filled it.
I'm sure the gas pressure is helping keep the well from collapsing currently. Also, these Wells are pretty big. Putting a million barrels of product in them is not uncommon.

Sounds like a good idea to me

well w/ those figures it will be a huge challenge. 31,477,336 bbls (1,322,048,125 gals)of fluid. However It may not take a drilling fluid to accomodate the needs. It could take simple Slatwater which is cheap. Saltwater weighs approx 8.5 pounds per gallon and freshwater weighs 8.34 pounds per gallon. So in turn you can put saltwater in and force everyting out. I dont know the exact formations or pressures so it is difficult for me to be close on numbers. But a tanker on the river w/ some pumps can do the job.

Those wells operate with brine water (saturated salt water). Pump brine into the bottom of the well and push the gas out the top. The well probably already has a good bit of brine in it.

did a quick map from bayou corne to the MS in Donaldsonville. Right at about 10 miles, as the crow flies.

I wonder what the level of the river will allow as far as a tanker being able to get up there.
