I talked to some buddies hunting in Biscoe and they have shot a total of 3 ducks in two days.

Heading to Wheatley Thursday for the weekend or possible short stopping around Portland/Boeuf depending on reports.

Anyone hearing or seeing anything good with this cold front?

I’m in the same boat as you right now. Debating either heading to Lake Village, Stuttgart, or Pocahontas this weekend.

Go to lake village. My buddies are on the Mississippi side and are killing ducks every day. Not limits but close and as good as it’s going to get

Buddy hunted Sat and Sun (1/18-19). 6 guys. All limited both days. Mostly mallards. Hunted with one of the nicer services up there.

Yea guys I work with spent all last week on public/private and then at Stan Jones mallard lodge for the weekend. They managed very few birds during the week more woodies than mallards, and missed a 3 man limit at the lodge by 2 ducks(10 ducks). But all they shoot is mallards and you can only kill 4 so it wasn't the best hunt there either. That was an expensive weekend for 10 ducks...….makes for a long drive back to SWLA knowing you dropped over 3 grand on 10 ducks.

Well I wont be spending money except for gas but it sure is a lot of driving to not shoot anything.

Like I said in the other thread, 6 of us will be heading up to Stuttgart from Ponchatoula on Friday and staying through Tuesday.
I've never been myself, but if Saturday and Sunday are bleak, I may be sleeping in on Monday

It really is disgusting. Im fortunate enough that it doesnt cost me a dollar more than a license but damn its frustrating. We have good food on the ground this year for the first time in a while, but no birds to use it.

I say this every year, but I am really considering going full-tilt Clyde Tipton and just focusing on geese, since they are always in abundance.

i mean yea, i hear what you're saying and all, but... time is worth more than money.... and gas, and supplies, and everything, it all adds up. which truly is not a big deal when things are half arse decent, but when they go to shite, it starts making you question "why"

trust me, i live here. i see it every day.

i know what you mean, it seems like specks have saved a lot of folks asses in ways, i mean at least the folks that are hunting the prairie are still getting to do some shooting. a lot of the prairie guides are damn near having to rely almost solely on specks for saving what would otherwise be pretty shitty hunts day after day. i dunno man, it just hasn't been that great. spotty at best. now then, some of the "high flutin" places have done well, and some are still doing well, but... as i tell everyone, you can't compare to that, thats not real life. for the common man, duck hunting here is not good

Our pit in Roe has been killing, mallard and pintail. Its been locked up the last two days, the thaw should be damn good for the next few days. Been picking out green in the timber.

There are some birds around Lake Village. My cousin has been hunting around Wilmot and doing well. One thing we did the last time we were up there was make a morning duck hunt, then give Delta Outdoors Co. a call and make an afternoon speck hunt. They have been blasting geese all year and it was like $200 for an afternoon hunt.

Anyone thinking this little front pushing through tonight will drop enough snow to push any birds?
