I normally collect DNA samples, send to a lab and have the genetic history checked for "bait-ability." I turn my nose up at people who do less.

Nah...just messing around in general.

I wouldn't call what you listed as being a "bait snob." I'm kind of making fun of the whole concept. I've got bream on bubble gum wrappers before.

I hear you. Little brother caught a catfish on a raisin one time.

But if you're ever fishing the California Baja freelining sardines for tuna, bait selection can make a huge difference. Even things like matching the size hook, using braid with fluoro leader, ringed hooks etc can mean the difference between pulling up a 50lb meat balloon and zilch.

Hellllll NO!!!! I use what they are biting. I go "fishing" not "casting". I got some friends that will use only artificials to bass fish. I love hauling in some pigs on live bait while they sit around and give themselves a pat on the back for not resorting to such methods.

I rarely use live bait. Only during the summer at the rigs or islands. I ususally try artificials first and use live bait as a last resort. Almost never use dead shrimp.

If I'm fishing alone or with friends that can fish I don't bother with the live bait. If I bring women and children I'll throw some in the livewell.

Yes, but I try to stay further west I little less crowded. I like to run into people coming from Burns Point.

Caught a bunch last year on topwater at the rigs.

You going to make me lie to you?

Actually south of there. May have went to same rig during spill for buddy's bachelor party and found the trout feeding on little flounder on top. 21' of water, I was just stunned to witness it.

I have fished that rig a few times and killed them. I think its 31 could be 28. We usually stay just east of there and will venture to 58

I am not, but I cannot remember the last time I used dead sckrimps.

Only live bait I fish with is when I'm with a guide. His boat, his way.

I use spinners, hard plastic, and soft plastics and rarely get out caught in our area.
