How do you like that front post with your Eotech? Is it distracting? I would much rather a flip sight, but I know to each there own. Just curious.
Nice rig either way. Top notch quality.

I can't answer for him but I have the fixed front sight and an eotech and it is not distracting to me at all.

Ya, I use a fixed front and rear with my rds. They dont really get in the way, but if the optic fails, I dont have any flipping to do, just keep on shooting.

I hear ya. I have the 557. It's got the 4 mil-dots. I doubt I could get used to it. A single dot, probably much easier. I'm in the process of Putting together an m4 ,Bcm upper slicked out with dd full length free floats. Having trouble finding a complete enhanced spikes lower.

I put a 16" M4 upper from Del-Ton on my CMMG lower. Fit perfect and the finishes match flawlessly. I also put Magpul MOE furniture in OD green

How do you go about ordering lowers online? Says it has to be shipped to a federal firearms licensee store. Was going to order one from PSA.

Shop your local gun dealers/pawn shops for their ffl transfer fee. I paid $25 couple months ago when i bought my lower.

The only part that has to be burchased through a FFL dealer is the lower (in this case stripped), right? The rest can be purchased normally over the Internet?

Almost any pawn shop/gun shop is going to have a stripped lower around. Might cost just a little bit more, but you don't have to pay the FFL fee. A stripped lower is all I bought from a local store, then ordered everything else online.

I'm been trying to find another enhanced lpk (already have one). I saw that they are out of stock at both spikes and joeboboutfitters, so I called spikes and they said to not expect any more for 90 days. But I figure I might as well get one on order.

but you will pay the inflated price of the shop. before i started that last build I called around and BJ Pawn wanted like $175 for a stripped Essential Arms lower. You can get the same lower for $85 all day. Go look at the stripped lowers in Jim's... It aint pretty.

Looking more into this and watching videos there seem to be several different "parts" that come together to build an AR. Obviously the easiest thing to do would (other than buying one completed outright) be to buy a complete upper and complete lower and mate them. I'd like to start with everything disassembled and completely build is (so basically no "complete" pieces) which got me trying to confirm what parts I would need. Then I read this on another forum and it doesn't make sense:

quote:

i did this today at the tulsa gun show. bought a colt upper for 350 and a striped lower for 130 and parts kit for 40 and stock for 49 put it all together tonight. looks nice.

Am i missing something? What about the charging handle, bolt carrier, ejection port cover, etc...

A true complete upper group includes bcg and charging handles IMHO. At least that's how I classify them.

So those prices theoretically seem in line with a dirt cheap build?
