I am looking for some new binoculars and these were recommended buy some friends. Does anyone here use these or have any other opinions on some good low light optics in the $300-$600 range?

I looked at the Vortex and read a bunch of reviews for binoculars in this range and settled on the Nikon Monarch 5’s. Bought them this week. They were about 330 and I am very happy with them so far. Huge improvement over my old Bushnells.

FWIW, Vortex binos are made in China. Some people could care less, as I think you can do much better based on your budget.

What is your intended use ? bowhunting - viewing deer at < 100 yds, hunting out West glassing mountain ranges, birding, hunting in thick dense vegetation , etc...

IMO, try to find binos which feature BaK-4 prisms for sharp images and clarity, along with Extra-low-dispersion glass

Rifle hunting at >100 yards at dawn and dusk. Just really focused on clarity and optimal light transmission.

I would do an 8x42 at minimum and if you don't mind a little extra weight, look for some 8x50's or 10x50's. Just do your homework, search birding forums for best glass as that group of people are anal about quality optics. The SWFA Sample List usually has some good deals

I got the diamondbacks last year on saw and took them to Montana. Was pleased.
Saw Elk and deer well before others spotted them.

$129 Is dirt cheap for the quality you get. I bought the same set of binos a couple months back from a dealer who sold them to me at his cost, which was more than $129. I'm very pleased so far.

It isn't quite correct that all Vortex products are made in China.
Not that this is what was posted. But could lead someone to think they are.
Some of their low end products like the Crossfire series are. But their higher end products are made mostly in Japan and some in the Philippines.

Their top of the line scopes are made in the USA. Just ordered the Razor HD LH, not sure if this one is USA or Japanese, but I can't wait for it.

I also have the viper line spotting scope. Very clear at low power (20x for mine). I hear most all of the spotters get murky at 60x, but you can still find birds in 60x from insane distances.

I specifically stated where the Binos are currently being manufactured and here's the proof.

Cabela's Display case 3 weeks ago ... Vortex Razor 12x50's

Same glass from 2015

the riflescopes and spotters are still being made in Japan and the Philippines

maybe they got a better deal in China.

Just checked my monarch binos, the focal knob says Japan, but underneath says made in China...I think these were $450 in 2009.

Just got back from Montana last night and two of my friends had the vortex diamondback 12x50. They were really pleased with them under 200 yards but anything over that needed a spotting scope.

I bought a pair of the Crossfire in 10x42 for $150 at a mom & pop outdoor shop in Troy, Al. Stopped on the side of the road on the drive back to Pensacola. Read a mile marker sign from 3/10 of a mile, which equals 528 yards. Good enough for me.

Good price for a decent pair of 10X42 binoculars. I bought my 12x50 Diamondback binocs at $150 about 1 1/2 yrs ago and was very happy for the price. I've also been very pleased w/ the binocs.
