Anyone have experience with DeWalt’s 40v 16” bar chainsaw?

Wanting this for around the yard stuff, just looking for some feedback if anyone has ever ran one or has first hand experience with one. Save me the gas powered argument. I live on a small farm and I have Stihls hanging in the garage. I just want something I can grab really quick and cut up a pecan, oak, or hickory limb should the scenario arise.

I have three chain saws. A large Echo, a small Poulon Pro and an 80 volt Kobalt. My favorite, by far, is the rechargeable Kobalt. It is amazingly powerful for what it is. I keep it on my 4 wheeler to take care of the smaller stuff around the property. DeWalt makes good stuff, so I assume their chain saw will perform similarly well.

Negative, looking at the 40V with a 7.5ah battery.
Thanks for the feedback y’all.

I have the 40v Kobalt and it does the job when we cut up fallen pine from the woods behind our house for the fire pit.

I wouldnt be scared of it. Should work fine for that, itll probably eat batteries which is to be expected i guess. I have a dewalt 20v cordless skill saw and i couldnt build half of a 2x8 table without killing both my batteries.

Well I bought stuff today. I got the 40v with the 7.5ah battery 16” bar chainsaw and the weed eater with a 6ah batter. Batteries are interchangeable and use the same charger. Didn’t realize the chainsaw came with an Oregon bar and chain so that will be easy to find replacements for when the time comes. The 7.5ah battery is rated to be capable of 140 cuts of a 6x6 piece of wood. I’m pumped to cut some stuff up with it this weekend if the weather holds.

Boyz and their toys, it'll probably rain for days on end now.
Always happened when I got a new cycle.

They say 6x6 pressure treated pine. Multiple YouTube videos confirm they get over 100 cuts with the 6ah battery. 7.5ah should get more cuts than the 6ah battery.

Bought one last week use it for chores like you described.
Awesome little machine cuts hickory and oak limbs great.
Had the 40v blower already so a spare battery if needed.
Well worth the money even though somewhat expensive at $350.

What amp hour batteries do you have?

I've had one for about year. It is a very handy tool. I've used it to cut down trees up to 8" diameter and it is excellent for cutting limbs. I've yet to have it run out of juice on me, I've never needed the use the spare battery bring along. For an around-the-yard saw it serves it purpose perfectly.

Should have got the 60 volt flexvolt version. You can use those batteries with any 20 volt dewalt tool. The 40 volt battery is only compatible with the 40 volt tools.

I went with the 40v because it is their “commercial” line and got better reviews for longevity. I also own no 20v DeWalt tools. Most of my stuff is Makita.
