Yep, residential areas are even getting hit in N TX. I moved out to the country and my neighbor has 100 acre pasture. He has been there 20 years and has not had to deal with them until this year.

I always want to but usually wait until 3rd week of Oct at the earliest. Usually by then we have had a good cool front, with maybe even a light frost. That seems to knock the army worms back and creates heavy morning dews that help combat the usual Oct drought

It sure is frustrating planting oct 1st and getting to watch your field turn into a dust bowl. Even worst, getting enough rain to germinate the seed right after you plant but then nothing for the next 3 weeks.

They are rampant everywhere right now. I have spray down on the ball fields, but anywhere else is getting hammered. Like between these baseball fields...

Completely knocked out and friend of mine plot in SW Ark.

It ain't just north Texas. They're tearing up Central Texas, too. Planes are flying everyday around me. I've been here 38 years and have never seen them this bad!

Yeah, I don’t get the people that think they need to plant super early. They deserve the heartache.
The deer aren’t going to give half a shite about a green field until after the rut anyway. Plenty of time to get a crop planted in mid October established and thriving.

Not in my experience, but to each his own
