Spent the night with one in a shelter on the AT.

Back when Shelters had fence wire on them to keep critters out. They don't do that any more. This guy kept at this skunk who obviously lived there; until he finally ran it in a hole around back. Dumbass. Because sometime in the wee hours when Brian when out to pee, the skunk climbed out from under his bunk and right into his warm sleeping bag. Just curled up and took a nap.

Upon returning all Brian could do was stand tapping his foot in the dirt and looking, until Pepe decided to leave. . . (about 30 minutes later).

eta: I was LMAO but not too loud.

What kind of shotguns were they shooting?

Saw another one last night while hunting coyote and bobcats.

Didn’t shoot this one but probably should have.

I was at Petit Jean State Park in Arkansas, playing cards after dinner one night with a friend, and a skunk walked out of the woods and right under the picnic table we were sitting at. My friend never saw it, but I told him to be very quiet and not move a muscle. After what seemed like an eternity, but was probably only 30 seconds or so, the skunk wandered out from under the table, and off into the woods after not finding any scraps to eat.

I achieved levitation that evening.

I know that feeling. When I was a kid, two of us were walking on a trail through thick growth that was almost like a cave through vegetation. Turned a corner, and there was a skunk right in front of us.

We set a speed record turning around and running out of there, but our cur dog went for the skunk. I assume he killed it, but he stunk like hell for a long time afterwards.
