Looking to build a trap with a one way opening thats proven to work. Tired of catching one at a time

yes. they work well but those frickers will bust through it if you don't get there quick enough.
We would leave it open when we were away from the camp and then the weekends we were there we would make it "tripable" so it would close on them. then we would just creep up on it a couple of times a day. a covert cam that texts you would be ideal so you can get there quickly
Had a hell of a time shooting 12 or so one time in ours

I just use a gate with a counterweight to close it. Run a trip string to the back of the pen and dump corn around that end.

Also, we had a guy in our club make one similar but made it so the gate wouldn't close.
He put a blind about 60yds away from it with the gate facing the blind. he would wait for them to all enter then hold his crosshairs at the gate and just stack bodies as they tried to leave.
called it the funnel of death

Now thats a hell of an idea but not sure how many chances id get to do that in the daylight
Ive always had strictly single boars on camera but now have several litters running around. I need something with a gate that once its closed they can still push inside. I plan to make this thing huge and maybe tear drop shaped so they funnel in even when its closed

yeah the one we made was about 20ft in diameter so it could hold a bunch. it worked just like you mentioned where they would still push through the gate after it closed on the first pig to trip it.

I built one like that, caught 2.If you are in area where pigs haven’t been trapped heavily it will work well.Problem is where I live they were trapped heavily for a while and now they are very trap shy.The ones that don’t get caught educate their offspring.I did much better with snares. Problem with snares are non-target animals,I caught doe deer once which upset me.I started making my snare loop lot smaller to avoid deer so then I only caught small pigs which was fine with me,also caught coyotes.Found out you need to wear rubber gloves.I set 3 snares with my bare hands and set up game camera hoping to get picture catching one. What I got pictures of them sniffing the snare cable and going around it.Went to Walmart, bought some of those blue gloves and my success went up.
Also need deer stop on snare cable so you don’t catch deer by the foot.
Damn hogs are so wary at my place it’s crazy.Couple weeks ago I was baiting a spot and pictures of 2 boars, 3 nights in a row standing 3 feet from the corn but wouldn’t eat it.Pictures for a hour and then they would leave without eating.Guess they had seen some of their partners shot eating corn.
Trap I have is BoarBuster which I am convinced is the best but it is very expensive and a pain in the butt in that I have to move it every time I catch some.I don’t have a stock trailer to load them out so I shoot them and then no others will come to that spot.Guy told me to spray the ground with diesel after I shoot them,I’m going to try that.

I had big suckers pop snares before.
I was like WTF?

Yes, caught probably 60 total in a "figure 9/figure 6" trap. They work. I'd pre-bait the spot where you want to build it and get them on the feed good. Build it and bring a pocket full of shells to check. Mine are about 25-30' in dia. I haven't tried the snares.

make it into a C corral, not sure of the benefit of this double gate thing.

I wouldn’t mind making a trap as well. I have 10 coming to the camera daily during shooting hours. Suckers eating 150 lbs of corn a week. Just don’t have my skinning shed built yet and hate to shoot something in this heat and not have a proper skinning setup

I like that design. I’m gonna be setting up in the woods so can use trees instead of post in some cases. Wonder if pre baiting the area before setting up the trap would make it better.
