Several buddies of mine will be getting kayaks in the coming months and I mentioned doing a multi day trip down the river. I've heard its a pretty badass experience and wanted to know if any of y'all have been and could offer some advice. TIA

I haven't done the Buffalo but I have done the Mulberry several times and it washouts of fun. It is close to the Buffalo. I think the buffalo is bigger and more popular.

What's the best time of the year to go?

did it every year for 8 years, what you want to know?

Don't do the Buffalo in the summer when the water is low. Hot as hell and occasional portages needed.

I've been trying to do a multi day kayak trip down the Buffalo or White River for years now, but all my friends suck

Not sure when the beat time to go is. We always went at Memorial Day weekend. Water fluctuates greatly.

If you want something closer to BR. Try black creek in wiggins Mississippi. I think you can stretch it to about 25 miles. Would be good for a weekend.

Put in at the low water bridge at Ponca and float to Hwy 7...several fun days. Do it in April.

Youngest qualified for Catch-A-Dream who took us fishim up there. Fished Buffalo and White rivers for smallmouth and trout. After growing up with mud and stumps, that place was beautiful. Go with no regrets.

Are there people everywhere or is it still pretty secluded?
Posted on 1/8/13 at 6:42 pm to PapaPogey
if you put in at hwy 14 bridge you will see people until you pass rush's landing. this is what people do for a day trip (hwy 14 and pull out at rush's) after that you wont see anyone until you get to the white river/buffalo city landing.
