That's pretty normal size. It's hard for them to break cause it's supposed to hook in the stomach. They break it when they're hooked in the mouth

Yea it looked like the gators he had problems with must have been hooked in the mouth. I've caught over 500 gators and never had one straighten out the hook or get off while pulling the line in but I don't hunt around cypress kness though.

Have had a few gators stolen though.

Also they must have a large population of big gators in that area. We used to have to set the bait fairly high off the water to keep the little ones off about 24-30". I noticed they were setting the bait almost at the water.

We did the same. That and for tide reasons. Have to set the bait considering high tide.

Only if that guy in overalls would have a run in with Shelby from Axe Men. That would be something.

I think the main thing I am disappointed in with the show is that they only, so far anyway, have covered alligator hunting. It could have been a lot more interesting to include some other activities too.

Those guys are going to make much more money from History Channel than they will selling the gators. Farmer Fran that has his own processing facility probably does pretty good since he is skipping the middle man.

The last one I killed was the same way. It was in the ditch in front of my father in law's house and we were afraid it would hurt the dogs. It was only about 6' but made some damn good eating.
