and splits. He will make a decision by the September committee meeting. On the table is leaving things as is with 3 zones and 1 split...or going back to 2 zones with 2 splits. This will go into affect for the 21-25 seasons.

Thoughts?

He's leaning towards recommending the 2 zone option(east and west) with 2 splits...the debate within that involves 2 scenarios, dividing the coastal zone or leaving it in tact. He says based on surveys, hunters are more worried about start and end dates.

He did say southeastern Louisiana hunters are in favor of dividing coastal zone.

Unless he moves Louisiana to Kansas I don’t think it really matters.

Now that’s a fine idea. It needs to be March-October though

Larry Reynolds said the only option would be an experimental season in October pending federal approval but he sounded like he really didn't give a shite.

Has he mentioned if they're going to provide the scissors this year for the Arkansas net hole cutting siege in the December split? Or are we going to have to bring our own?

Someone needs to tell him not to close snow and blue goose season during the split like last season. Also why does the coastal zone, all the way at the bottom, start before the rest of the state? Doesn't make sense.

Always thought coastal shouldn’t open till damn near the first split and stay open till end of February. Duck hunting coastal zone has been shite before the split for years

Most the ducks shot in coastal zone are/were early migrators. Wanted to catch them as they came down. Also the water tends to get real low on the coast in January

That is the rehashed answer and it comes up quite often. There is one single commissioner that doesn’t want to change the dates. Wants them as early as possible. He is in charge of miamicorp
