Anybody Ever Sell Cabela's VISA Points ?

Today I experienced yet another "fraud department" hold being placed on my Cabela's Visa card -- because I ordered from an online vendor (Academy) who has an out-of-state (Texas) website/billing site. Odd, since I placed a larger order with Academy three days ago, for a larger amount, and the purchase went through -- but that's what the "fraud department" dude told me.
The "fraud dude" told me they flag any purchase made in another state if I don't notify them in advance. I suppose there are some benefits to this -- my wife left for Gulf Shores with some of her friends this morning, carrying one of these Cabela Visa cards.
ANYWAY -- I'm fed up with Cabela's Club Visa (now administered by Capital One), but I'm not going to close the account(s) until I cash out my points. We haven't cashed out any points for 10-12 years, so I have more points than I can readily spend.
Is there a market for selling points ?
Or for transferring points ?
Or do I find someone who plans to buy a shotgun, trolling motor or whatever and offer them a 5%-10% cash discount (They hand me the cash and I buy the item for them using the card)?
TL;DR I'm fed up with Cabela's new fraud system. Plan to dump their card(s) after I spend my club points.

You could use your points to buy a gift card, then turn around and sell the gift card for cash.

You don’t have to close it, just stop using it and use your points when you want
Otherwise buy a gift card with points

Good suggestion, as was the earlier one from Buster180. I'm just looking for a quicker way to wrap it up.
Total for points is in excess of 15k --- maybe as much a 25k (I plan to find out the total tomorrow). It would take me a long time to spend that amount (unless I manage to blow the engine on my bass boat).

Go buy 6 penn 80 2 speeds with your points and i'll give some cash lol.
Eta i had same issue with cabelas. I am keeping the card for emergencies and using my united airlines card for all purchases. My wife was in orlando- i told them she would be there, and they declined her card anyway. Cabelas card services sucks

Sorry -- was trying for huge brag.
To CivilTiger:
We started having this issue after Cabela's sold their credit card business to Capital One. Before the sale, we'd get a call from the fraud folks maybe once every two years. And then it was almost always the case that the card had actually been compromised.
But since the sale (I think it happened at the same time that Bass Pro bought the retail business), we've had at least 8 instances. None involved any fraud.
Up until the last few months I always told people the Cabela's cards were a good deal. Maybe not the best available, but very good. But now I'm definitely going to make a change as soon as it's feasible.

That has happened to me when I go to Monticello, AR near deer camp and on the road for business. THey opened the card back up after calling to confirm ID.
They actually do a good job though. One time my card was actually hacked and they caught a guy spending big bucks at Twin Peaks and WalMart near Houston. All charges were reversed without hassle. They do their job.
That said, I've never had an actual fraud or a fraud department call with my AMEX.
ETA: I have not sold points. I didn't know you could, but I wouldn't because I use them myself.

Any chance you could put a bulldawg up there? Or at least one of those brown bears?

That feature came in handy for me at one point. Somebody tried to spend 1700 on my card in Florida and then in Minnesota and the fraud department caught it. It can be a pain in the arse but it saved me some serious money.

I think their fraud department is normally pretty good. I use my card for half of my office's expenses we run a lot through it. I get a fraud alert about every month or so. Most of the time it's over cautious however six or seven times over the last few years they have caught fraud. If signed up for text alerts you just reply yes or no to a text and you are good to go again.
As far as the points I too will buy them if you get that far along with this, however it does sound somewhat fishy who couldn't find a way to spend 12-15k in Cabela's? I could do it literally in like 5 minutes.

Could also just find a product that has a strong resale value and buy a few of them and sell them on Craigslist or Ebay or here which could help convert the points to cash

We charge a boatload of purchases thru the Cabela's cards for business stuff, (three employees and I have cards) and I carry another one for personal use.
Up until the changeover we had been happy. But who wants to carry a client to lunch and find out there's a hold on the card due to an online purchase made the day before from an out-of-state vendor.
I guess I should blame the OB. The Academy purchase that tripped the latest Cabela's "hold" was the result of you folks posting the 20% off code.

I called Cabela's this morning to get the "points" total for all the cards. It's $19.8. I have thought about buying some "nice" guns from their "Library," but don't really need more firearms. I don't need a new boat - not that $20 would buy one (and I wouldn't be shopping at Cabela's for a bass boat anyway). Not planning to tear up the engine (250 Pro XS) on my boat, but that's about the only purchase I can think of that would come close to burning up my points.
I guess I'll do what was suggested earlier -- keep the cards (to retain the points), but stop using them. I'll have to do some homework to find out what CC has the best rewards program.

I am not sure your information is accurate on fraud...
This week on my Cabelas card we charged to the following states:
NY
CA
TN
TX
NC
UT
WA
All the charges were over 1K no fraud issues at all on my end.... (nocking on wood)

When I asked if I would have an issue using the card on out-of-state trips, he said I should call Visa prior to the trip and let them know I'd be traveling. I have other things to do when planning & loading up for a trip.
This set of cards has a $50k line of credit, and we have always paid the balance in full every month. Up until now (~ 12 years) it's been a good card. Capital One has apparently added more stringent "out-of-state" metrics to their fraud detection system.
I'm currently looking into other Visa reward programs. So far, Citibank is looking pretty good.

Check out the money board credit card discussion. There are numerous better credit cards that have better protections, benefits, and earnings/rewards not specific to one store.
Chase Freedom Unlimited ($0 annual free) up to Chase Sapphire Reserve ($450 fee).
