Yes, but more so because they just show up when deer hunting. I use cheaper muzzy fixed blades if I expect hogs to show up. Arrows are still a pricey loss. Always planned to buy some cheaper ones for hogs, but never have.
They make a lot of noise when hit with a broad head....

yes, often. hunt the wind, stay late, shoot low and behind the shoulder.
it’s a great way to hunt year round.
edit: they really do have sub-par eyesight

On top of what Mack said....

You can get sneaky with them if you play the wind.

I hunt them with bow and .22mag. Bow when I'm deer hunting and .22mag for squirrel. With the mag, I aim between the eyeball and ear. Hasn't let me down yet

Thanks. I work on the Guard side of Ft. Jackson and there is a ton of real estate to hunt. I'll have to go out and scout some areas.

have fun! great way to put some meat away and also helping out Ma’ Nature.
they are smart as heck on patterning us and their sense of smell is better than deer imo.
be quiet, hunt the wind and have fun!

Yes, I hunt them both from a stand, and spot and stalk. Keep the wind in your face and move slow on the ground. Chances are you'll hear/smell them before you get close enough to see them. I've killed them with mechanical broad heads, but they usually get destroyed. Had better luck with fixed blades like Muzzy or G5.

I’m new to hunting and trying to absorb all the advice and information I can get. Forgive me if this a stupid question. Is there a way to attract hogs like deer and other game?

I've gone out on Tensas NWR in the spring and seen them by the dozens criss-crossing 4-wheeler trails. I stay on the trails to avoid cottonmouths. It is fun stalking hogs with a bow.

The times I've been in a climber and seen them, their sense of smell seems to be better than deer, as they have been wise to my presence. They aren't as dumb as you might imagine, fun animals to hunt though.

Bait is really only attractant and can’t use it in public land in Louisiana. Don’t know if any hog calls that would work

Best thing is to ease around the woods and look for fresh sign. I usually smell them before I see them or hear them. When a group of pigs are together they make all kinds of noise from rooting around and fighting and fricking. They are loud

And x2 on the wind thing. They don’t have good eyesight but they have good noses and usually there are many noses not just one

If you get into a big sounder and shoot one they don’t know where the me from so they may run directly towards you. Knock another arrow quickly. Have found that the big boars May stick around and try to figure out what happened and you can get a shot on him
