Thinking of going and interested to hear from anyone with personal experience.

Nope, but I know a bunch of people who have and say it is fantastic. Especially if you like to kill stuff, a lot!

Nope, but a buddy of mine took a duck hunting trip there around early June. He shot so much he got tendonitis in his shoulder
These are the pictures he sent to a few of us.

Yes. You will get tired of killing birds by day two. You'll kill 500+ your first day if the guide finds a good spot to hide near the roost. Also, duck hunt if you can: 9 different types of teal and a 50-duck limit per person. It's only fun with a big crew because you get drunk and shoot until you either tape a pillow to the butt of your gun or stop shooting due to the intense bruising. If you can afford it, obviously you can, it's a once in a lifetime experience. Not to mention; Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, and Paraguay are beautiful.

Argentina seems to be about 1/3 more expensive than Uruguay/Paraguay/Bolivia. Is Argentina that much better?

For doves: Yes. (You'll kill thousands in Argentina; hundreds everywhere else.)
For duck and perdiz: No.

I would do this simply because the extra thousand doves in Argentina is overkill. Not to mention the duck and perdiz is better here. FWIW, I've gone multiple times and never had a bad time. However, if you haven't seen the sky turn black with a million doves flying over you, it's a once in a lifetime opportunity.

I've been to Honduras a few times, and as great as that was I gather it's some fraction of what the experience is in Argentina. I think your advice is good advice and my brother (who will be coming with me) wants to hunt or fish something else while we're down there, so I'm going to look into a combo hunt. Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it.

I would also recommend Mexico but with as bad and unsafe as that place as gotten your money is better spent else where.
When your shell bill is more expensive than your airfare and hotel bill in Argentina you know you are killing lots of birds.

What do you do with the meat? I assume you are tired of eating it when you leave and don't even want to keep any. But it seems like such a waste.
I saw on here a while back someone had "smuggled" some nice looking ducks back through customs and had a really nice looking 3 bird mount. Anyone else had any experience with this?

You can only carry so many birds home of the 5,000 your group will kill each day. You carry enough for you and the local people to eat free dove and you leave the rest for the birds, coyotes, etc.

It is.

You can't get tired of eating there. The food is great and they know how to grill/cook some meats. Sausage, dove, duck, everything

Hard to believe. Customs is extremely strict and made us wipe the dirt from the soles of our shoes and boots in case we had contaminants from the foreign soil. The second time I flew home from Argentina I arrived in Miami, FL from Santiago, Chile and told them I was in Argentina with friends and hadn't been hunting so they would leave me alone.

A friend who is a pro skeet shooter killed over 2000 doves in 3 days last year.. You will have a great time and will be treated like a king. They load your gun pick up birds etc: All you do is shoot and relax!!
Just don't venture out in areas without your Argentina host.

Aregentina is awesome for doves IMO there is no place better. On a good day you will kill 1,000 doves, on a bad day 700. Good and bad days aren't defined by the amount of birds flying, simply your shooting. There are ALWAYS birds flying.
For ducks and fishing, Uraguay may be a little better but both are VERY good. I haven't made it to Uraguay yet, but i will likely go next trip.
For the guy that said you can't get birds out of Argentina/Uraguay, here is proof....

I have a freind that is a booking agent that I have been taking hunting for years down here and i hunt with him in MS and Arkansas. He operates
getducks.com
He has greatly expanded his coverage in the region of south america. For the life of me I can't remember the name of the Estancia we stayded at right now but it was first class all teh way. In fact may be the nicest place I have ever stayed at.

I've always wanted to do this too. What is the price range we're talking about for Argentina? Uruguay/Paraguay/Bolivia?
