Any word on the storm surge in Delacroix/Reggio? I’m seeing stuff for lower St Bernard...

Was making a run down to the camp to run the boat Friday and maybe sneak a few trout and reds while there. I know a surge can flood the marsh with bait fish and shrimp but wasn’t sure how far north the surge is coming.

Road to Yscloskey had water of it yesterday, i cant imagine it gets too much higher, water in Cocodrie has started to recede.

On the plus side, storm surge = storm minnows! get your cast net!

North wind is going to help get water out... didn’t realize it was going to be 10-15 today and tomorrow.

This is from Hopedale Marina’s Facebook page

quote:

Due to Hurricane Michael and rising tides, the roads heading to Hopedale Marina are impassable. Marina is closed, all RV’s and boats seem to be in good shape.

Yep. I have cameras at my camp looking at the docks. Was over the dock yesterday at this time and today has risen another foot.

This is right now.
Note: There is a dock under that water and goes from the road/sink area to about 1 foot to the left of those pilings.

Over night the water got up to about 2 ft over my dock in Shell Beach. For your reference, see water gage at USGS link below (very handy, bookmark it):

LINK

A "normal" daily tidal range would be 5 to 6 ft on that gage, so we're talking three feet above that. Wind ripped from the east for a number of days even before Michael was a factor. It's currently getting it pretty good from the north there, per link below, so that will keep it falling.

Making a run tomorrow evening to our place right there... hopefully all the bait, north wind and falling tide on Friday morning = reds and trout..

Definitely will try for some shrimp too.
