I’ve had 3 hunters on my place since yesterday - and no one saw anything! I’m thinking about putting out some Viagra and Spanish Fly infused corn…

We hunted this evening at home. We saw 9 deer total. The small bucks we saw were not interested in feeding . They were walking and looking.
My wife saw our biggest buck but didnt have a shot.

That sounds great! This cold weather should keep them moving. My problem is the wind is not great for where I plan on going bow hunt but I'll have some tinks to hang around me to disguise my scent.

I have to work Monday, Tuesday, and have a Dr appointment Wednesday. I’ll be in the woods after that for a week.

If Wilkinson County didn’t replace the bridge during the brief period the Tuscaloosa Marine Shale money was flowing and they were looking for ways to spend money they aren’t doing it now!

Amen. I know people on Willie Neyland north of the Buffalo and they would probably blow the bridge up if it was ever rebuilt!

If anyone is hunting in Wilkinson this week please post what you’re seeing !

It’s been an odd season so far (at least at my place!) but this should be an outstanding week of hunting - and of course I’m tied up with work and won’t be able to get back up until late Friday night.

MS breeding date map

Remember that the date(s) you see is the mean conception date, not the peak rut. Most deer behavior studies have shown that hunter-observable rutting activity peaks about two weeks prior to the mean breeding date. Therefore, this quest becomes quite simple for the hunter, who can simply subtract about two weeks from the mean conception date in his area to obtain the simulated peak rut period.

We hunt in Franklin County. Haven't seen much movement at all during the day. Even doe sightings is WAY down. Getting a few night pictures but that is all. Did have one 8pt picture this morning right about 6:45 but it's been slim pickens for a while now.

You'd think this front would have them moving today and this week

I had to leave the camp early yesterday but stopped by to check on my neighbor on the way out - she said had been seeing deer during daylight hours in a field behind her house every morning and afternoon until about 2 weeks ago, but nothing since then. As I mentioned before, it's been a strange year at my place!

Saw a young 7 point. He was very small. Let him walk. Saw 3 does walk out at about 5 and watched them with a timer set. After the timer, I was going to kill the biggest doe. Thirty seconds before it goes off, I hear something coming crashing my direction. I’m like “Hell yes. The plan is coming together”. The does run off and in comes….a spike. He makes some noise and leaves.

Hopefully tomorrow morning we have better luck. There’s action just not ready to pull the trigger

It’s hot right now in Madison County. Took my little nephew bow hunting Sunday with me and saw 5 rack bucks with two being shooters that were following a doe but just out of range for him.
