I want a snub nose or something smaller to carry. I love a revolver for a backup option or even a carry option. One that shoots snake loads is invaluable for going in the woods basically anytime except Dec-Feb in La. I'd go with a S&W.

I love revolvers. I recently got a Taurus tracker, the full size 6.5” barrel in .357. Like this:

Yeah I know it’s a Taurus but it was so much cheaper than the S&W. But anyway, it’s such a pleasure to shoot even 357. Holds 7 rounds. I have no qualms about making this my home defense gun. The smaller capacity is the only downside but I’m personally content with just 5-7 rounds.

Is that the new "pack weight" 5 shot .44?

I want one, but I have my doubts that it is very shootable.

Don't ever sell that. Crazy expensive right now and really hard to get. Those early 80's Smiths were still well built and will last forever. 90's and forward not so much.

Got one just like that. Had it for over 30 years. It's my CC of choice. I did install Hogue grips on mine, though. The stock grip was just a little too small for my hand. I've had this one on my hip from Florida to the Rocky Mountains. Wonder how much they are selling for now? Paid 200 bucks for mine, used.

I bought mine used as well from a guy I delivered pizzas with at Mr. Gattis in Shreveport in 1991. Paid $125 for it back then.

I am not going to go back and forth with this. He used available cover. And it is a movie set.

I'm just saying that if THAT is the right way to shoot a handgun, clear a street, or do basically anything, its no wonder the cops had a hard time in Miami. It looks laughably bad.

Carrying a speedloader never made any sense to me for concealed carry. At the best (like Jerry mickeluk) speed, its still a pretty damn cumbersome process and there's no good way to carry those little round bastards. I had decided that if I started feeling like 6 wasn't enough, I'd just start carrying a 2nd gun.

Because you were not of age in the 1980's, have never completed a police academy, and have never been a law officer.

A good movie example of correct revolver shooting.
I can't imagine anyone calling that "an example of correct revolver shooting."

The shooter's entire body is moving on every shot - arms, head back, a$$ - you see it, it's moving. Don't know if he's shooting real ammo or simply engaging in contortions for the camera.

With proper grip & stance the wrists rotate -- there shouldn't be any of that arm lift. And if you're Jerry Miculek, I'm not sure even the wrists flex.

P.S. Long ago I carried a snub-nosed revolver a few times as a BUG. But a G43 or Shield is a much better BUG, and virtually any upper tier semi-auto that holds 10 or more rounds is a superior to a five or six shot revolver for CCW purposes.

Oh nice.

I'll never buy a smith with the internal lock. Its such a damn shame that as fine as their revolvers used to be they're infested with that stupid thing now.

I fondled a brand new M66 4" at the gun store about a year ago when I was kicking around a new revolver. It felt like a damn fine gun, but nowhere near as pretty as the old ones are.

Apparently not all agencies share your view from 40 years ago. As of ~5 years ago (in BR) the deputies who couldn't qualify with a Glock semi-auto, but could qualify with a revolver, were assigned as jailers. This policy may have changed.

Revolvers are essential to have handy for a wife or girlfriend who's not savy with an automatic. It's basically idiot proof in case of a carjacker or home intruder. Make sure it's double action so she can just blast away without worrying about safetys or clips. They must be loaded at all times to be effective. Bad situations can arise in seconds. Having loaded revolvers with children around is another topic we could discuss forever, but not today.

Thats how I felt forever too but in my particular case, we found out a double action revolve was terrible for my wife. The trigger pull is so long and so heavy and she's so little that shooting a GP100 was a two handed affair, two fingers to pull the trigger without straining.

I dont use that recommendation anymore. The ruger LCR has a spectacular trigger but its so light that the recoil eats her up.

I think she's getting an LCR .22 mag for her next attempt at this. She liked the LCR alot.
