Any mountain bikers here - looking for some trails/tracks to ride with son

I just bought my son a cheap mountain bike (Nishiki Colorado) to get him started on some single track trail riding. We are in Lafayette and have done Acadian Park a couple of times. Those are ok. I have an entry level hybrid/gravel bike (Trek Dual Sport 1). Does anyone know of any easy trails (can have jumps, but need bypasses) or gravel/hard dirt routes I can take him on nearby? I'm willing to travel to LC, Alexandria, and BR if needed. I have looked on AllTrails, but this list can feel old, and have incomplete data at times. Thanks!

Chicot State park has some cool trails. I've only hiked them but I feel like I have seen bikes.

Thanks for the link. I knew Alexandria had a few, but just starting out, some of these seem a bit intimidating. Especially the distance on some. I will look for some shorter loops to get a feel. We'll work up to longer stuff.

Yea, we have watched some videos, especially the pump track. My kid is interested in these for sure.

This I did not know. I will look into it.
I see a downvote. Would the downvoter tell me why? It may be helpful.

BREC has some trails in the Baton Rouge area.
BREC Trails
I haven't ridden the public trails in Baton Rouge in more than a decade, but they used to be fun and not too long. Especially the Hooper Road trail.

Nice! I knew there were some cool trails, haven't been to that park in forever. Now, when y'all get proficient on the trails down there, I'll invite you up to Colorado to test the trails up here!

Also, nice trails around Lake Kincaid in the Alexandria area.
I'm in BR, and also used to do those trails a lot. Been at least a decade since I have (getting older
They are/were very fun, and reasonable level of difficulty. My parents used to take their dogs walking on the Hooper Road main trail, it was quite easy. They had boxers and bulldogs, and the bulldogs could do it. A couple of the side trails had more difficulty and they couldn't handle those.
The Comite River trails were where I'd go 2-4 times a week with my son, as he was in high school at the time. Those were great, there's enough hills and dips to enjoy for any entry level person. Busted my arse on plenty, without being bad enough to injure. You're not going to see any elderly walking dogs there.
It used to take about an hr or so to make the loop at the Comite and get the side trails, and they were fun enough to keep coming back.
They are close, maybe about a mile or 2 from each other, both on Hooper Road. I still occasionally see bikers on the shoulder of Hooper going from 1 to the other. You do have to cross the road at some point. If I were to do that, I'd park at the Comite Trails, I think it's a bit nicer to leave your truck there. There's also the Blackwater Conservatory, very close to the Comite trail, which is more just a flat walking path. I never saw bikers riding there, but it was a decent cooldown and could take in some more outdoorsy stuff. I used to just walk it, but I see the site says you can ride it.
If you are coming in from out of town, you take I-10, take I 110 (north), get off at the airport (Harding exit), to the right. Harding becomes Hooper, so you don't have to make any turns.
Eat and grab a couple beers (or teas) at Central City Steak and Seafood afterwards, it's a couple hundred yds away, with decent enough food.

The "Beast Trail" in St. Francisville. Great hiking and biking

In addition to the receommendations so far, Lake Fausse Point State Park has some very flat easy trails for beginners. Bonne Carre Spillway trail is also pretty flat and easy for beginners.
Downvote on Chicot may be because in the past it has been super rooty, with short steep climbs and not always in the best condition. Never did enjoy that trail.
From Park Service Website for Kincaid:
Just be aware that the Kincaid Recreation Area is still closed from Hurricane Laura. The Federal Government is inept at doing anything properly. The trails are open, but typical access is not. Great set of trails. Some portions are tougher than others. Portion on southeast side of lake is definitely not beginner. Section around the Kincaid Recreation Area campgrounds is where our kids always rode when they were younger. Wild azalea trail portion is pretty tame with more gradual climbs.
