This is what I have shot for over 20 years and LOVE them

I’ve shot them all….#1 and #2 are the only real options for me out of the 4. Hornady Interlock is probably the best cup and core bullet ever made. I’ll only shoot 3 loads out of my rifles, Hornady American Whitetail is my go to for all my guns, I’ll sub for the Norma Oryx or Nosler Accubond if I need to stretch it out a bit. I’ve superb results from those three.

I’ve never seen a game king not pass through on a 165gr in .30-06 (well placed 1/4, broad, 3/4 shot), sometimes it takes 25-30 yards before the blood starts spraying, but I’ve seen that on my 7 mag with Barnes TSX. Starts as a pin drop and ends up looking like the deer had two 4” paint brushes loaded with Sherwin Williams Real Red SW6868 strapped to each side within 25 yards.
The amount of people I’ve hunted with, from brand new to 3x my age and way more experienced than me, who were god awful at blood trailing far out weighs those who knew what they were doing.

I cannot. I’ve never had that issue at all. Only time I’ve seen nonexits were on hard quartering to shots that went in base of neck and was logged in opposite hind quarter. All broadside shots through shoulder or behind it all exited and left massive spraying trails as far as I recall. I’m sure there were a few exceptions in there as I’ve shot +- 100 deer with them from 90lb does to 235lb bucks but as said I always loved them. Not that it matters now since they gone ha.

I have searched high and low and have not found any at least not in the federal cartridge. Maybe some new old stock just bullets for reloading but as far as the cartridge have found zero. Between us Shot them in .243, .270, 30/06 and 7mm mag all had to switch. 243 wnd 270 they went to the regular federal vital shock soft point. 30/06 went to core locs. 7mm mag went to Norma whitetail but still have a few left of the BTSP to finish off.

I've got a part of a box of 165s I'd be willing to sell or trade off. I'll see how many I have tomorrow.

We’ve moved on for the most part. Rezeroed guns for the new rounds on some and have large supplies of the new ones for the one still using them that actually shot the Normas dead on same as the BTSP didn’t have to touch it so just moving forward with them all. No reason to prolong the inevitable at this point
