I've done that. Lots of fun until you let them climb to high on the shovel.

I have this stuff the you spread on the yard that called hot shot, I believe. It's a granuele that you put out with a spreader.

I got it at John Deere landscapes. It's pretty expensive but it doesn't take much. I put it out 3 years ago and just spot check since then. No problems.

Take a big shovel, scoop up one pile, step on the second, then dump the first on the second. Then, sit back and watch the ant on ant crime.

We used Amdro in the Dept of Entomology at LSU. You must not be doing it correctly. It has always worked for me, just takes a few days.

I always hear don't disturb the nest. It makes the queen lay more eggs. Not sure if this is good advice or not.

You will need 2 people and 2 shovels. Have each person scoop an ant hill from a different spot in the yard and dump each scoop on the other ant hill. Then grab a beet, sit back, and watch the carnage while they kill each other.
I actually did this inadvertently last weekend, combining one mulchpile that was loaded with ants with another one also loaded with 'em.

Interesting to see if they wiped each other out. Probably just made peace and got even bigger.

One group will be wearing little red bandanas and the other will have blue. Some will even hang their bandanas on the mirrors of their pimp ride.

If you were closer I would get you some commercial grade stuff at the nursery supply. We have to spray everything that goes to Texas with it and it works.
