The state should be comparing hunting licenses to felony convictions and investigating if they are hunting with a firearm...

They can't take hunting rights away just because a person is a felon. And asking the state to investigate is a joke. The amount of money and time it would cost the taxpayers is nuts. I think if someone did the time and got out all rights should be restored. That's just me.

I don't get why someone would shoot a bear and leave it. If I shot one, I would skin it and make a rug.

This is a prime example, most felons aren't felons by accident. It's just in their dna to not be able to live normally. I would bet this isn't the last time he breaks the law either.

It makes no difference. IMO everyone that isnt in prison or in a mental institution should be able to own a firearm.

But killing an endangered species just for the frick of it is stupid.

120 days and $900 doesn't seem like a big enough penalty to me.

My thoughts exactly. In comparison, didn't someone say in here yesterday they were fined $411 for not tagging a deer. The 120 days may not bother me as much, but only $900?

The state charge for illegally killing a Louisiana black bear brings a $900 to $950 fine and up to 120 days in jail

I thought you also had to replace the bear. I seem to remember years ago someone shooting one and the fine was astronomical due to having to replace to black bear.
