So after calling and speaking back and forth with the manager of Academy for a week. They decided to swap my gun out for the same model.

I took it home, cleaned all the factory gunk off of it, and oiled it properly.

Now it feeds ammo and functions perfectly. I guess the first gun had some kind of issue. Kudos to the manager stepping up and taking care of a customer.

Their policy is, and am surprised they did not tell you this as they handed you the firearm....you now own this firearm and we do not. If there is an issue you return it to the manufcturer to be repaired. If you need assistance, bring it here and we will ship it and handle the return for you! I just made a purchase last night - Savage AXIS .270 and they were very adamant that I listened to that and responded affirmatively. I'd let them return it for you to be repaired. Or you may want to file the throat of the feed ramp.

I'm kinda shocked they switched it out, but congrats.

They used to make you sign a form saying you understood and agreed with the no return policy. But I don't know anymore. Mosy manufacturers test fire the gun before being shipped so you shouldn't have many problems. But things do happen. I understand Academy's policies on guns. If you could return them people would use them for hunting seasons and bring them back saying they don't work.

It's still BS, though. Literally, he had the thing for 24 hours.

OP, glad you had a good outcome.

That was pretty much my reasoning. I had it for 24 hours, never fired a round through it, just places rounds in the magazine and tried to chamber. The very first round hung up. I continued to manually run rounds through it, and the first and last rounds always hung.

They where adamant about it being a no return policy, which I fully understand had it been a functioning safe firearm. However, it was not.

You should've bought it from Dick's. Oh wait....

Dude, that's not Academy's fault. It's yours for not knowing the rules/LAWS!! And buying a Taurus on a whim.

spring in your mag is new and needs to loosen up, characteristic of this is a stovepipe on the last round

Congrats on the resolution though. Still hate Academy? Or are you gonna start a new thread?

Glad that worked out for you, but you're being a little whiney about this thing.

Pretty much every firearms retailer has the same policy about returns on firearms and ammo. If anything they went above and beyond to help you with this situation.

Wasn't it at all. There was an issue with the slide. When engaging it you could feel a slight hang in the first one that is not felt in the second one.

How am I being whiney? You wouldn't be pissed off if you bought something, brought it home, and it did not work what so ever?
When you buy anything anywhere, you never bring it back to the place you bought it if it doesn't work?

Where did I say I bought it on a whim? I researched it and found decent reviews on it. Seemed perfect for what I want it for.

Oh I would be pissed but I wouldn't get angry at the place that sold it to me and then say frick them when they simply followed a policy that anyone who sells guns and ammo follows.
