don't know anyting about that subject, never took it in school. But, i do know for a fact, it popped the shoulder alot harder (thatdullsickeningachingfeel) than my 7's..

mine didn't have boss, it was loud enough on it's own..

BTW, the TC did have a tendency to "jump", but, the Simmons Lab pad replacing the factory pad made all the bad stuff go away..

As I posted earlier, there is very little real diffenence in actual recoil between an 06 and 7 Mag. The difference in ^felt recoil^is largely a matter of the rifle stock design. Does it have a recoil pad? Is it a straight stock? Is it a Monte Carlo stock? A staight stock puts recoil directly back into you shoulder but slaps your face a little bit harder. A Monte Carlo moves the slap away from your face. If one stock style kicks too much, try the other style.

Mother of god, my dad bought a k98 mauser (8mm) a while back. That pile of arse kicks harder than my 7mm mag. Doesn't help that it has a metal buttplate.

I have one as well. Metal butt plate is the reason. Try putting a slip on recoil pad on it and it will help a lot.

If you can shoot it, fine. I love my 300 wsm, but am a dynamic motherfricker.

I know a lot of guys that just dont shoot them accurately due to recoil.

I will say that I would much rather shoot my 270 because I can do everything with the 270 I can do with the 300 while not getting my teeth rattled.

I think everyone needs to remember the original post. A guy that's looking for a entry level rifle. I would NEVER hand a noon a big magnum to start out. Too many additional, unnecessary variables to effect a new shooter. Especially when the standard calibers will do more then what is needed.

If he's looking for an entry level rifle why is he asking about a 7mm mag. or a 30-06?

The original post wanted to know Pros & Cons of the two. He was not looking for an entry level gun as you posted earlier.

Fair enough. Thought he was looking for an entry level rifle. Don't know what I was thinking.

Oh well, pretty sure that was covered on page one and two.
