if the trim tab is set right on the tiller motor, there is little or no pull on your shoulder. You could drive it for hours straight with nothing hurting you.

If he moved them around for ballast to counter wind effects then it makes a lot of sense. W have all moved stuff around in smaller boats to get it to plane easier, sit flat, etc.
