35 Whelen Scope

I recently bought a scout CVA 35. I have a spare scope which is a Nikon PROSTAFF RIMFIRE II Rifle Scope 1" Tube 3-9x40mm BDC 150 Reticle Matte.
Will this be sufficient? I am concerned with the rimfire designation on the description.

This is my exact setup . You'll be fine . I sight it in every year due to it kicking like a mule . If you wear glasses , hold tight to shoulder . Cut the bridge on my nose twice . If you hit a deer with it , it's going down .

My daughter has killed deer with mine. Quit being a pussy.

I hate when people say this. It's simply not true. Some deer run and some don't. You can shoot a whitetail straight through both shoulders and the heart and lungs with a .338 and sometimes they still run.

If you're leaving the muzzle brake on it should be fine. I took the brake off of mine and it kicks pretty hard now, I'd be worried about rattling the guts of a rimfire scope.

That makes me feel a lot better. I can upgrade the scope later if needed. Thanks for the heads up. I'll grip that sucker tight.

to stay in that price range, I would put on a vortex like the one below...my friend had trouble with his Nickon Prostaff.

Relax tough guy. I'm glad your daughter can handle it.
Shot placement is key on deer running away or falling close by.

I got a Nikon Prostaff P3 Muzzleloader Scope, 3x9x40 BDC. That 35 Whelen packs a wallop, so I'm not sure if a rimfire scope is built to withstand that much recoil or not. I had to re-zero it yesterday matter of fact because the only bullets I could find were a different manufacturer and grain. Shot it 6 times, which was 5 times too many. Yowza. You don't feel it shooting a deer, but it's not fun to target practice with.

I mean, it all depends what bullet selection. I shoot 180 grain and it literally feels like shooting a .30-06 (because at that point, it is). very manageable.

Just kidding. I had a Nikon Monarch 2.5-10x42 on CVA Apex 35 Whelen and it broke after a couple boxes of bullets. I had an old Philippine made Simmons AETEC 3-9x44 that I used on it while the Nikon was getting repaired. It performed very well and held zero. Currently it is wearing a Nikon Monarch3 2.5-10x42. So far so good. The original Monarch was not repairable.
I also switched to a heavy duty one piece machined aluminum mount. Back when I bought my CVA a lot of scopes were getting destroyed and many blamed the factory one piece mount for the failures. I would assume that is not a problem any more.

Taking it this afternoon . Don't expect much with this 20 mph wind .

I've narrowed it down to the VX-FREEDOM 3-9X50 or the Vortex diamondback 3-9x40
I'm too poor for the Zeiss

Scope should be fine but I would recommend some stout rings. First set I had on my Whelan cracked. May just have been a bad set but I upgraded and haven’t had any additional problems.
