Getting my son a Super Black Eagle for his 21st birthday. 26" or 28" barrel?

We usually hunt rice fields/pit blinds or flooded timber. Some afternoon goose shooting over peanut fields.

any advice is appreciated, as this is not the OT.

That extra 2 inches gets that smoke pole outside of the big metal box that much farther.

28 or 30 if it's mainly a duck gun. It'll get the muzzle out further to help with noise and I find the longer guns swing easier when wingshooting.

26 here, find it easier to shoulder and swing.

There is no relation between height and barrel length. With the exception of maybe a 5ft tall 13 year old. The longer the barrel the smoother the swing. Even American&international Skeet shooters who traditionally shot 26" barrels have made the switch to 32" barrel on their O&Us over the last 10 years or so.

Thanks Gingersnap, that's a good point. He not an instinctively good shot, and smoothing his swing out will likley help him a ton.

28. Longer sight radius, better swing

I shoulder and pick up my target a little quicker with my 26" but I hunt with both and don't think it makes a significant difference

I don't think it matters one bit what you get him

I shoot skeet sometimes and I have a 26 inch gun and a 28 inch gun and I consistently hit better with the 28. I know that applies when shoot doves and ducks too.

I wish I had a 30.
