Those are quality groups

Just shot with tidehater for a couple of hours and ran his Vudu and 457 Professional (I think that's it's name) and I learned a lot to say the least. We shot at 200 yards with quite a stiff breeze and I'm hooked. I'm looking forward to the competitions he was talking about somewhere in this thread.

Thank you again TH for graciously letting me shoot your ridiculously high priced ammo

Just interested in seeing what everyone's set up with rifle, scope, ammo and experiences with different things are. Tips, fun things to try, ect would be appreciated. I'm not going to strap myself with a budget because I'm just trying to gain knowledge about it. Ideally, I'd like to have whatever is considered "decent" groups at 50 to 100 yard distances with another rifle of course

Took a 10/22 and did the following:

Ruger BX trigger
Kidd heavy, 16” barrel
Boyds AT One thumb hole stock
Harris bipod
Area 419 base
Vortex Strike Eagle 5x25

It shoots better than I can. So far it likes SK Pistol Match ammo the best and easily does 5 shot groups of all touching.

Have run the KYL target once at 50 yards and can pretty consistently run through the 3/4” gong at 50 yards. The last two are a different story.

I am not heavily into precision rimfire, not running a chronograph or Kestral or ballistics app. No problem with guys that do, but I just wanted a semi- precision, fun, plinking .22 that would reach out consistently and accurately.

I had fun. Sorry about the wind conditions. You shot the V22 Vudoo, CZ 457 Varmint MTR and the CZ 457 Varmint Pro Precision Trainer MTR

The Pro Precision MTR is the holy grail of CZ 457 models in my opinion.

We will have you ready by next Sunday for the match. Bring your son.

By next year you will be broke and selling yourself for gun parts and ammo.

Got my new chassis for the 457 in today. This chassis is way more sturdy than the previous chassis I was using.

Had a great time at the competition yesterday with Tidehater

My son and I emjoyed chatting with the regulars and learning about the wide world of precision 22 shooting. Many thanks to Tidehater for helping us along and letting us shoot hit MTR for the competition. I have fallen into the rabbit hole and as tidehater said "prepare to be broke"

Glad to have you and junior come out and participate. Both of you shot excellent for your first match.
The guy that started this get together was named Howard Mahute and he was a Grand Master level shooter. Nationally ranked. He was the owner of Rumble Wepnz amd Chief Gunsmith/Designer. He started this for two reasons.

1. It was a cheaper way for us to practice for our 600 and 1000yd matches.

2. To get the kids involved in the sport and to teach them safety and technique.

You are in the rabbit hole now. Let your son shoot about six months and we will move him out to 600yds and start all over again.

Serioously, thanks for coming out.

I'm not going to say a word about performance yesterday because it won't mean a thing until I have my own rig and can throw that one against a telephone pole

I will say: tidehater's MTR performed very well for me yesterday in the match

You son a bitch got me deep in this rabbit hole

I appreciate you helping me get my rifle sighted in today. Less than 10 rounds and we were within where it should be at 200 yards

Yeah, that new CZ is going to be making you look good. I told ya so...best stock rifle out of the box is any flavor of the CZ 457. I have won more matches with mine. I am just getting started on the Vudoo rig.

Glad you found your mags as well.

Stanislov Koot is going to be your go to guy at CZ in the Czech Republic. I will locate his email addy and shoot it to you. If you need parts or advice, he is the guru there.

This guy TideHater goes out and shoots a 30/33 with a hit on the smallest target for +3 with atrocious wind. What was it blowing 10+MPH almost constantly?

I thought I had the stock class in the bag with a 27 score with a hit on the small target for a +3 as well. Ole Toby snuck in there with a 27 and beat me, yet again, by one point in the shoot off

Not yet. Not a huge priority right at the moment. I have both a 22 pistol and now a 22 rifle for a suppressor but will probably wait until well into next year to get one. See how the companies price them after the huge surge

Ya, it'll just make it that much more fun. I barely even shoot my big rifle anymore. The suppressed 22s are just way to much fun.

I'll get there eventually. I'm focused on 200 yard 22lr shooting right now and trying to get better in that area. I'm make it to the awesome side of suppressed shooting soon

If you can scrounge up the money, you can save sales tax by buying one this weekend. Then do the ATF paperwork in January when the $200 tax stamp is no longer charged.
