New for 2026: The Chiappa M1-22 Bushranger
Chiappa Firearms expands its rimfire lineup with the introduction of the Bushranger M1-22 Semi-Auto, a .22 LR rifle built to bridge familiar sporting ergonomics with modern accessory capability. The Bushranger is intended for recreational shooting, skill development and range use, but could also excel in the hands of any small game or varmint hunter.
The Bushranger runs on a semi-automatic action paired with a 16.5-inch barrel fitted with an aluminum barrel shroud and 1/2×28 TPI muzzle threading. The compact barrel length keeps the rifle responsive and easy to maneuver while maintaining compatibility with common rimfire muzzle devices. Feeding is handled via detachable 10-round magazines, with two included, enabling quick reloads and uninterrupted range sessions.
Next up, the gun's receiver is topped with a full-length Picatinny rail, allowing shooters to mount optics anywhere along the rail depending on preferred eye relief and setup. Beneath the fore-end, an M-Lok attachment surface provides space for accessories, such as bipods or other support equipment.
Finally, the gun sports a combination of traditional wood furniture with a contemporary interface, to give the Bushranger a balance between classic rimfire familiarity and current rifle adaptability. At 5.43 pounds and 29.25 inches overall length, the platform remains lightweight and manageable.

If you could only get one lever, would it be 357 or 44?

between those two, .44 if for no other reason than I have a S&W 629 in that caliber but the 357 will be cheaper to feed

Some of the most fun shooting you can have is suppressed 38spl through the 357 chambered one.

What is the reason for getting lever guns in pistol calibers (other than that they're cool and you want one)? Are these mostly used for target shooting or shooting suppressed? When I got mine I went with 3030 since it seemed like it'd be more versatile for hunting.

My favorite gun I have is a Winchester 9422M XTR. My dad gave it to me for my 16th birthday. I have a Leupold VX-III 6x compact scope on it. Lever guns are just fun to shoot.

357 out of a carbine length barrel picks up a lot of speed. Fulll power loads can get close to 30-30 energy levels.

I want something you can feed lighter loads suppressed to ease my kids into shooting. And also something that can pack more punch once they feel comfortable with the weapon.
But mainly just for fun and I want one.

My Emissary from Gunbuyer came in today. I ordered the 4.25 but they called and said it was out of stock. They sold me a 5” for the same price which was $678 shipped. Awesome deal. It was a vault gun but can’t tell it’s not brand new. Came with 2 mags and all OEM stuff.

Definitely the 357. I bought a Marlin 1894 in 44 mag a month ago. It’s a beautiful flawless gun but I regret not getting it in 357. 44 is more expensive and kicks more than I expected. I’d love to be able to shoot 38 which I have a ton of.
