I have a 23' power boost and absolutely love it. I am in outside sales, so drive a lot, normal routes I average 22-23, when I do normal rural hwys average around 23-24. Just did a round trip to Tyler, Tx from Lake Charles and averaged 23.8.
Plus the 7.2kw generator in nice, especially since I live in Lake Charles and get hurricanes. 20k+ miles in less than a year and have had no issues.

I bought one two years ago and have been fine with it, it has plenty of "Get Up And Go" when you gas it and is smooth.
I doubt you could tell the difference in it and a V8 just driving, plus all consumer reports seem to be positive.
I haven't trailered anything with mine.

We have an 18 expedition, bought used in ‘20. Had phaser rattle repair done under warranty, started rattling again within a year or so. Did research and switched to Castro high mileage10w40 and quietened it down a lot to where it’s really not noticeable. Albeit the second rattle was never as bad as the first. I like the engine and like driving it the vehicle. Heater hoses, water pump, and thermostat housing gasket leaks are another weak point (on the 18 at least.). I’ve come around to the point where I’d buy one though.

Sounds like I will probably be good with either option. Guess I’ll just let price decide which route I take for engine.
Side note - Anyone have luck getting a local dealer to match out of state pricing, or atleast get close? Would really prefer to buy local for several reasons, but looking online out of state dealers (MAC Haik, etc) have them for like $8k less. Never bought new out of state, is there something I’m missing here?

I have bought several in Texas. Beaumont, Texas City, Austin and San Antonio even. No problems at all. You will get a better deal usually. Find the vehicle that you want online and give your local dealer a chance to match the price. Sometimes they will, sometimes they won’t.

My step son has a power boost, it’s quite impressive, if I didn’t haul what I haul 8 months out of the year, I’d be looking into one.

Bad reports on the transmission on the new trucks...and if you plan to keep the truck for a while, the turbos will eventually need replacing =$$$
Buy a good extended warranty these days.
Good Luck!

Yeah I have heard of problems with the 10 speed. Also I prefer the 5.0 to the ecoboost. One turbo costs 4 to 5 grand to replace. Times two eventually. Give me a V8 any day.

10spd in my 22 is the clunkiest transmission I’ve ever driven.

They no longer offer the 5.0 V8 on King Ranch (which is incredibly stupid)
I read that RAM no longer offer a HEMI. I would guess it's an MPG thing maybe?
Side note. I've owned 3 ecoboost F-150s and drove the crap out of them and no issues.

One reason I’m leaning Ecoboost is I can disable the auto start/stop crap. Cannot do that on Powerboost.

Plug and play in line wire harness. I have one arriving this week for new expedition. It just makes vehicle remember the choice of turning it off instead of having to press every time you cycle engine.

Anyone have a Powerboost and like or dislike it?
I’ve got a 21 Powerboost with almost 100k miles on it now and I love it. Get 24 MPG to a tank. It’s legit fast and the electric abilities are extremely useful.
Haven’t had any out of pocket repairs or have I had to use my 175k extended warranty but I got one because I was worried about all of the technology and its reliability.
