My wife and I are expecting our first child, a boy, in late June 2023!
Super excited about it but this will also throw a big wrench into my typically jam packed fall hunting plans. No western trips for the first time since 2018
Congratulations man! Going on out of town trips that are more than just a weekend is one thing, but I was pleasantly surprised that my deer and turkey hunting was not affected anywhere near as much as I thought they would be. With 4 and 6 year old boys, I've realized that it is now that we have 2 boys both playing sports that my hunting time is about to dwindle for the next 10-14 years

Same as always North Louisiana for deer in the fall/winter and South Mississippi in the spring/summer for hogs.

but I need a rifle what do you suggest?
Eurooptic just put some Sako rifles on clearance. Some were like $600 off.

Heading to Minneapolis, Kansas for a pheasant hunt
Not sure if you are hunting wild birds or at a released operation, but that's a tough part of the state for pheasants. Good for quail, but if I was going to KS to hunt pheasants, I would draw a north-south line through Hays, and hunt west of that line. Just an FYI.

After a season where I wasn't able to travel near as much as normal due to what seemed like an endless number of unexpected issues, I'm planning to hit it very hard this coming season.
Will start off with turkeys here in Oklahoma. Will also hunt turkeys in KS and MO.
Planning to spend 3-4 weeks in ND/MT in late September and early October chasing prairie grouse and then pheasants.
Potentially a northwoods trip to MN or WI for grouse.
Typical quail and pheasants in OK and KS. Then maybe rounding out the end of the season with a quail trip to NM or AZ depending on the rainfall they get this nesting season.
So many places to go, but so little time to fit it all in.

Met two guys from Canada this year that drove down with their dogs to NM to quail hunt. Had no idea quail could be the good in NM.

I’m wanting to get into more upland bird hunting this year.
Was considering a Kansas public land quail hunt but no experience. What area/bird is going to give my dog the most bang for his buck?

Thanks for the heads up though

Really wanting to do another Texas trip for deer. Not sure if I'll be able to get it booked this year or not. Really want to do the South Texas area this time.
