Let me get through October 15 without a storm and I'll feel a lot better about the season. With the exception of last year no storms equal ducks for my area.

..... considering young people are not getting into hunting nearly like they were 10,20,30 and 40 years ago..... .the fewer hunters... the less voice you have.

Then don’t read.
He has been a contributor to the site much longer than you. Take the third grade name calling elsewhere.

Anyone who doesn’t thing the changing farming practices up north hasn’t affected duck migration is being obtuse.

Yeah and for south Louisiana and Texas I'll bet acreage in rice has dropped substantially since the 80s. And those are my primary years in hunting in Louisiana. When there was rice, there were ducks. A drive through the boot heel of Missouri and eastern Arkansas blew me away last year with the amount of rice. In Arkansas there were enormous fields completely leveled with what seemed like a single levee around the perimeter. Rice for as far as the eye could see.

Yup, a lot of those boys figured how much government money they could get on top of there tax right offs and lease payments and rice popped up everywhere.

On another note. Jbeam I saw there was some deal made about LA rice being sold to Iraq? That going to help yall any?

Arkansas has been planting over a million acres of rice since the 1970s. this year they will be around 1.1million

Missouri has increased about from 100k to around 200k in the last 30 or so years

Texas as its peak was planting 600k acres. They are down to 150k thanks to drought, city people controlling the irrigation water, and urban sprawl

LA was also up to 600k at one point. Last year we planted 430k

Miss. is up and down depending on price and has planted as much as 200k. This year they will plant about 110k
