Check Smoky Mountain Guns and Ammo for deals on a shield. I bought a 2.0 9mm with laser for 299 last month.

Check Pawn shops for these. You'll probably get a nicer gun for less money than a new one. All the young guys are wanting the latest and greatest tactical stuff and trading in their old 30-30's. I paid $250 for mine made in 1980 and $275 for my son's made in 1976. Both in excellent condition. His even had a Leupold VX-2 on it which I promptly removed and put on another rifle. I basically got that rifle for free depending on how you look at it.
