I only use spinning reels.
In order of success.
1. A weightless or near weightless shrimp is fire under a popping cork. DOA makes a pre-made rig that is unstoppable and comes with removable weights and extra shrimp. Popping cork is great for reds or schooling trout (and unfortunately cats). And if the line breaks you can find your fish by following the floating cork
--seen my buddies do this (not me, I use braid)
Those black weights in the shrimp torso are easily removable for different types of fishing/action.
2. Weighted, weedless gulp shrimp to drag on the bottom.
3. Topwater or spoon of your choice.

Me too, and I'm not sure how shallow the pond will be.

Depends what you are fishing. ponds/broken marsh I would throw a spoon or spinner if there is no grass, open water throw the mirrodine.

No specs. We were hunting reds mainly.
Threw at some birds a few times but nothing from it.

I asked you a question in the Cookin and Drinkin thread.

What'd y'all catch those on?

You can scrap the Top Dog for tomorrow. Water is going to be too muddy. Spinnerbaits, spoon and gulp on head with or without cork.

Trout are moving south, but these damn fronts have shite screwed up. My book says beach/pelican pass/bay Junop, y'all may need to start in sister and work south.

Water was filthy today. Honestly we had probably the worst weather you could have. High wind, dirty water, no sun, rough water.
Still found em though.
