Anyone fishing below I-10 in Louisiana is forced to buy both Salt and Freshwater licenses.
Just the name of the game in South LA.

Reds aren't picky, they'll hit bass/perch gear... you just might not have much left of it

Which OBer is familiar with fishing this area? We need to chat before so I can get an idea of where I can and can't go in my boat.

I'm familiar with "inner" Delacroix. I've never been out to any of the bays. My boat is too small to get caught out there if something kicks up.
I can tell you almost anything you need to know about the highlighted areas... (Red dot at top is Sweetwater)
The highlighted, unnamed "bay" just south of Pointe Fienne Bay is called Skippy Lake. That's a good area. Also, just south of Skippy Lake is Oak River. That's the long, highlighted river at the bottom of the map. The North/South pipeline(aka Pencil Canal) connects Little Lake (Petite Lake) to Oak River. At the intersection of the pipeline & Oak River is another good spot. Good fishing in Oak River from the Pencil Canal east to Little Cravasse.

Slick, I have only ever fished Delacroix in a yak, so wouldn't be much help with where you can take the boat. I know of plenty places to fish in a yak though. I do know that Captain Jack at Sweetwater is always willing to give out general areas. He's a great guy.

We've had plenty of yak fishermen do very well in the area just across the bayou from Sweetwater in our annual fishing rodeo that we do down there this time of year. Just paddle across the bayou and hang a left into the first big pond. Many reds, bass and specks caught in there every year we were there.

Awesome, CD. Just what I wanted. Am I safe getting to all the yellow areas in a bass tracker in decent weather conditions?

Also, how is the fishing North of Delacroix Lodge? I was thinking I may be better heading that direction in my boat to stay away from any open water.

You bringing an extra prop?

Pretty much... Some of the bays I highlighted can get a little choppy if the wind kicks up but I've never had a problem in my 17' dual console shallow V boat.

Never been in the direction. I've always focused on specks and reds. Heading north will put you in bass territory.
