I bet a Wilson spring and follower kit would solve your issue. My 10 round Checkmates had some really weak springs but have been great in numerous 1911s since I replaced them with the Wilson units.

I've never had a problem with my stock mags. Not one glitch. That being said, I use Mccormick power mags when I use aftermarket

I use Wilson #500's. Outstanding mags!

ETA: Chip McCormick Power Magshave never given me a single issue, either.
