Looking at the vortex crossfire binoculars. Should I go with the 10x42 or 10x50? Will be primarily hunting Louisiana.

I have the 10x42. The are pretty clear and pick up a lot of light considering the price. I usually pick them up after shooting hours is over and can still see silhouettes that I can’t make out with my scope anymore.

Yeah for Louisiana this is all you need. But of the 2 choices the OP gave, 10x42 definitely. No need for 10x50.

I have a Leupold 10x50 for bird watching. I can see a small bird across Contraband Bayou but they might be too heavy for hunting. I carry an 8x42 to the high school football games which is adequate.

I bought the VTX Diamondback 8x42s on sale at Christmas last year. I hunt primarily hardwoods and ag fields. They’re great for the woods, but there are times I wish I had just a touch more magnification for some of the longer fields. They’re great for the price though.

I bought the Diamnodback 10x42 on sale a couple years ago from midway for 129.99. I've been very pleased.

I would go 10x42 but I would look at the diamondbacks over the crossfires. I find the optics are noticeably better in the diamondbacks and the price difference isn't too great.

They can be had for 179.99 from opticsplanet or b&H photo right now.

Vortex Diamondback 10x42. Fine product. Wait till December and you can find them for around $120.

If weight and size are more important than optical quality grab the 42s. The 50s will give you a brighter image (not better low light performance) because of the larger exit pupil. You'll also gain better resolution.

Like others have said I'd scoop up a pair of the diamondbacks over the crossfires. Call some of the online shops and haggle over pricing. Typically you can get 10-12% off on Vortex by just calling and asking if that's the best they can do.
