Whether you were being sarcastic or not, there were a couple million people who were serious in their political outrage over the super bowl halftime show that were just as dumb as the people writing those articles in the OP about the US hockey team.

Individuals at the olympics are 'representatives' of their specific nations. Their nations dont - and never were expected to - represent them (the olympians) as individuals.

That asshat Clinton Yates at ESPN thinks it’s great that the US women’s hockey team declined to go to the white house. What he did not mention was that they did not do that because of politics, they did that because they already had previously scheduled work engagements or events that they could not all get out of. The dude is such an arse hat and a bitch.

Also, logistically, it was an impossibility as the men’s team flew charter and arrived in Miami yesterday and the women’s team flew commercial and arrived in Atlanta this morning. That’s on the USOC. You wanna know where I found all this information?
