It seems as if lately US athletes have become more and more fragile and soft than any other countries athletes. Things happen. Life is tough. Shake it off and go out there do what youve been training all your life. Other athletes handle the pressure and strive for it. Ours it seems can not and do not. Especially todays athlete.

Did you watch the best female skater on the planet last night? Elite sports is a tough racket. People fall down. People fail.

You mean the one dealing with doping allegations. Her falling had nothing to do with sports being tough or hard. She got other issues right now. Mikealas issue is nothing more than mental. Plain and simple.

You don't think dealing with doping allegations and the media circus is mental? For these people, it's all mental. They have the physicality to manage the tough and hard part. The rest is between the ears.

Shiffrin watch

Too many interviews before the run and the TV time.
Looks like she was intimidated by the course. She does not have the confidence.

She wanted to have a good run but at the same time she is afraid of the course.

For a top athlete, this mental lapse was killing her.

Hope she can come back 2026.

And it's been happening forever. So often, the favorite loses and the underdog wins and a lot of that is simply due to lack of pressure. I've known a lot of elite athletes in gymnastics and diving. What I've gotten from them is that it's important to be loose and just enjoy the ride. Once they feel like it's their job and their crown to lose, that crown becomes heavy and they are crushed under it's weight. When they can feel about their next run, dive, routine, etc. that it's just them going out and having fun doing what they do, it's easy.
